Why is Arctic sea ice so important?
It’s #worldoceansday, so check in with @polarbearsinternational to learn more about how important sea ice so critical for Arctic ecosystems and for all us of who live further south.
Video: Polar bear footprints lead up from the water onto the sea ice floe edge between Admiralty Inlet and Lancaster Sound. Smaller, winding tracks of arctic fox angle across. May 2022.
Shot on assignment with @jdupcaptures and @arcticbayadventures, with special thanks to our guides @don.taqtu, @jam_.303, and Raymond.

Need we say more?!
We wanted to create something fun and energetic around a product. Most of work is ‘documentary style’ so it’s actually pretty rare that we do studio work. That being said, it’s super fun! And might we add… sometimes delicious!

Writing On The Wall // Full Documentary
Winnipeg has one of the largest and most well preserved collections of hand painted signs in North America.
Ghost signs are hand-painted, outdoor ads that have been preserved on sides of buildings. They are also known as fading ads or brick ads and were prevalent from the 1890s through to the 1960s. As outdoor advertising mediums evolved, ghost signs became a less popular way of advertising products and services and were replaced by billboards and vinyl banners.
Our downtown core is covered with advertisements and store signs from years gone by that were painstakingly hand painted by highly skilled artists. While ads, store signs, and billboards certainly have changed since the turn of the century, the artform is still kept alive by a few individuals and its history is captured on the sides of buildings and signs we pass each day, often without noticing.

Writing on the Wall Documentary // Trailer
It’s been three years since Craig Winslow brought history to life on the walls of downtown Winnipeg.
“Writing on the Wall” is a documentary that explores Winnipeg’s ghost signs. No, not the spooky, haunted kind of ghost signs. Winnipeg’s ghost signs are the timeworn, hand-painted advertisements that decorate the walls of some of our oldest buildings.
“Writing on the Wall” is now available on our website!

Beluga Whales in Churchill
While on assignment for Polar Bears International we had the opportunity to shoot with the explore.org beluga boat. To say the least, it was an incredible time with water clarity like we had never seen before! These beautiful animals are known as the canaries of the seas because they seem to sing beneath the waves.
HANDCRAFT ARCHIVE - University of Winnipeg
We had the opportunity to work with the wonderful people at the @universityofwinnipeg to create a series of videos that promote their brand and messaging to potential students. Used on various social media platforms, we understood that there was a good chance many people wouldn’t see this video with audio so the visuals needed to relay the same emotions as the narration. Hopefully we achieved that! 😊
.
We also had the opportunity to work with @erinheroux who provided creative direction and coordination. @cory_aronec_photography who shot all the stills for the campaign. And @willowcreativeca for drone services. They were a dream to work with so give them a follow to see some incredible visuals!
Handcraft Archive - Buffalo Point
Adventure to Understanding: The story behind Buffalo Point, Manitoba.
In the summer of 2019 we had the opportunity to work on bringing this story to the screen for @indigenouscanada and @travelmanitoba. The best part of jobs like this is simply spending time in these places, with incredible people and sharing their stories.
When we set out to shoot this piece we created a story plan that would allow us to make it feel like a single day (although it was shot over 3). Some things we had to schedule on location and others at a moments notice. That’s the beauty of these kinds of projects. Sometimes special moments simply present themselves. We knew we wanted a fire scene. That was a fact! We had shot early in the week with Herman but his time was limited. We simply let him know when we were going to shoot this scene and if he could make it that would be great! Herman joining us was an incredible privilege and as any good storyteller, got right to work. As the sun dipped below the horizon he shared stories from his nations history. This could have been a narration but the wonderful thing is that it’s real. It brings more authenticity to the scene and is something we constantly strive for! It’s more challenging but 100% worth it!
Handcraft Archive - Waking Winter
While patience may be a virtue, no one really likes waiting for things, which is why we shot a promo video for FXR’s new Winter clothing lineup in Summer! We took FXR’s latest designs on a true wet weather test, hauling professional wakeboarders across the lake dressed head to toe in winter gear. It also gave FXR an opportunity to test out their F.A.S.T. floatation technology built in to the suits, designed to keep you afloat should you go through the ice in winter. Turns out, it’s perfect for wakeboarding too. A couple of days enjoying the outside with the FXR team turned into a full length promo video, social media spots, and a lot of drenched equipment.
Handcraft Archive - Izzy Asper
We learned a lot in creation of this video and it we will forever remember the legacy that Izzy leaves behind.
Israel Harold Asper, known as Izzy Asper, was a Winnipeger through and through. He loved this city and his final dream and vision was to establish the @cmhr_mcdp. Asper hoped it would become a place where students from across Canada could come to learn about human rights. He saw it as an opportunity to raise understanding and awareness of human rights, promote respect for others, and encourage reflection, dialogue, and action.

We’ve been extremely fortunate to work with Frontiers North Adventures for a number of years now. It’s fair to say we feel like part of the family. If you’ve followed our adventures then you’ve probably seen a bear or two. They took a chance on us when we were still a young company and this is the first video we ever made for them.
We started with a question, "What makes Frontiers North Adventures unique?". It became immediately clear that it was their guides. Their knowledge and enthusiasm was infectious! This video was aimed at capturing that as well as showing off one of the coolest "offices" in the world!

Safety videos are generally pretty boring, but they really don't have to be. We wanted to poke fun at the stale, old-fashioned safety genre through the use of dry/ridiculous humor. The idea was that by enjoying the video, the viewer will remember more helmet safety tips. We think it worked, and we had a great time working on it!
Thanks to the incredible folks over at @tetro for collaborating with us on this unique project. We were fortunate to have a client that let us run with the concept and make something unique within the marketplace. Cute dogs help too!
Thanks to @manitoba_cycling and @alteregosports for being apart of this!

We had the fun challenge of making a video about Custom Casting visually interesting while being informative and outlining the various tools, techniques and capabilities of this company. That and they didn’t want it to have a voiceover or be boring...
We hope that these have been fun to watch and maybe helping to pass the time. If there’s anything you’d like to see that you remember from our work then let us know! We’ll post those videos too. We’ve been so incredibly fortunate to make these with so many wonderful people that sharing them reminds us of how great our community is!
