Hello Friends & Backers!
On September 11, 2022, the team at The Collective Film Productions, publicly revealed our most ambitious project yet: a pilot for our prospective TV series, Life In The Wheel World. A series exploring disability, success and excess. In unveiling the project– one we’ve spent nearly a decade on– we knew we’d need a sizeable budget, our goal was to shoot a pilot and endeavour to turn that into a series for television. That’s where you came in, we asked for your support through our Indiegogo campaign, and as a result of that incredible support, we raised an amazing $4,287.
During the course of the campaign, we did a couple of press events to promote the show and raise awareness of our campaign. As a wonderful surprise outcome of the campaign and its publicity, we were approached by a national broadcaster. After a lengthy, exciting initial pitch meeting they expressed interest in the show! This is where our plans had to change, suddenly we have the opportunity to see the show come alive as we’ve always wanted.
What does this mean? Well, it means we have a tremendous amount of work ahead of us. It also means we’ll be shifting away from our originally proposed pilot and instead putting together a “pitch package” with the funds raised. Why a package if we’ve already pitched? We have a responsibility to demonstrate to potential broadcast partners what the show will be visually and what it’ll cost us for the season.
Where are we now? We’re currently figuring out casting fees for shooting a trailer for the season a “sizzle reel” and potentially a table read of the pilot script to be filmed. Additionally, we’re looking into supplementary grant funding to raise production values even higher and bring in highly skilled, and talented folks in technical and creative roles to elevate the pitch package as best we can.
We intend to honour all claimed rewards, timelines for delivery at this point are up in the air while we’re hard at work (and waiting for winter to leave us alone) on the pitch package, a pilot, and a season of scripts we can be proud to stamp with our names!
The Team thanks you for your tremendous support and patience while we do our best work.
With deepest gratitude,
Myles, Jared, Melissa, Hannah, Melissa, Will and Rusty, thank you for joining us on this incredible journey!
