ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਾਹਰਲੇ ਮੁਲਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ-ਸਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ, ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਰਕਮ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ 10,000 ਡਾਲਰ ਤੋਂ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ 20,635 ਡਾਲਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਸਰਕਰ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੰਨ 2000 ਲਾਗੇ ਇਹ ਰਕਮ 10,000 ਡਾਲਰ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਜਦਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਮਹਿੰਗਾਈ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦਾ 10,000 ਡਾਲਰ 'ਚ ਸਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਟਿਊਸ਼ਨ ਫੀਸ ਅਤੇ ਸਫਰ ਦਾ ਖਰਚਾ ਅੱਡ। ਇਹ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਜਨਵਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।

ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਨਵੇਂ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਆਉਣਾ ਮਹਿੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਇਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਹਫਤੇ ਦੇ 40 ਘੰਟੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਦੀ ਰਾਹਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ 30 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ 2024 ਤੱਕ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।

ਸਰਕਾਰ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ 22 ਬਿਲੀਅਨ ਡਾਲਰ ਦੀ ਆਰਥਿਕਤਾ ਘੁੰਮਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਲੱਖ ਨੌਕਰੀਆਂ ਚਾਲੂ ਰੱਖਣ 'ਚ ਮਦਦ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ਆਰਥਿਕਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਏਨਾ ਹੁਲਾਰਾ ਆਟੋ ਪਾਰਟਸ, ਲੱਕੜ, ਏਅਰਕਰਾਫਟ ਇੰਡਸਟਰੀ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ।

ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੋਸਟ ਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਵਰਕ ਪਰਮਿਟ ਲਈ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਵਾਧਾ (Extension) ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
