Hello, friends. Yesterday after the morning show, I helped lay my uncle Don to rest at the age of 83. Uncle Don (at the front of the pic below) was a pillar in the Wallaceburg, Ontario community, owning a paint store in the town for 48 years, and spending 20 more working at the local funeral home. He was a community leader with over 6 decades with the Kinsmen Club and Knights of Columbus. A kind and generous man, few ever had a bad word to say about Uncle Don.

Over a decade ago, realizing they were getting older, my 5 aunts and uncles made an effort to spend more time together. by attending a hockey game. This started a tradition that would occur every year. All 5 siblings, choosing one night to attend a hockey game together.

Back in November, I was fortunate to have an opportunity to invite my aunts and uncles to Windsor’s Country Night at a Spitfires game, even though it was a few months before their annual excursion. I’m so happy they were able to work out the details and come join me. We all went out for dinner before the game and enjoyed a wonderful night of laughter and memories. Getting to watch the Spits win was an awesome topper.

As fate would tragically happen, just a couple of weeks later, my Uncle Don’s health suddenly took a turn. Looking back, God must have been a hockey fan to make that special night available at the time that it did.

I’m grateful to the Spitfires for partnering with us for Country Night and making the night possible for our listeners. But especially, our family. Our last hoorah with Uncle Don will never be forgotten…

HOWEVER, the Detroit Loins flag raising at Charles Clark Square is still a go for 10:30am this morning. The 'We Want More Tour' bus will still be coming today as well, at the grand entrance of Caesars Windsor off Riverside Drive from 12:30pm - 2pm. Just the drone show is rescheduled. Share the word with anyone you know who was going to the drone show.
