Ontario is providing truck drivers with more safe places to stop and rest while moving essential goods during COVID-19.
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation is identifying locations though its 511 information service. This includes parking at ONroutes, Truck Inspection Stations, seasonal rest areas and truck lay-bys as well as specific GO stations, Park n Rides and commuter carpool lots. Be sure to confirm you are in a designated lot before parking. The site also lists truck friendly restaurants and privately owned Truck Friendly Stops, including available washrooms, take-out, vegetarian options and more. Be sure to visit www.511on.ca and use “Trucker Mode” for all the details.
