A quarterly student magazine of arts at Wilfrid Laurier University, publishing content from an open

Submissions are accepted on a freelance basis from students, alumni, and community members. Submissions are edited, and then compiled into magazine format by a student-run editorial team. Blueprint is published four times a year – three issues during the September to April school term, and one in the summer.

Anything can be seen from multiple perspectives, and the point of view can be unique to everyone. There are many ways to interpret something, and many ways to communicate it to others. Introducing Blueprint Magazine’s Perception Issue, a medium to share creative perspectives and leaving the interpretations open to the viewer/ reader. Submissions are now open, send them to [email protected] by March 19th! Looking forward to some amazing submissions and unique perspectives.

We are pleased to announce that Ekjyot Singh is our first-place poetry winner for the Told Only in Whispers title prompt contest! Ekjyot Singh is a second-year BBA student at Wilfrid Laurier University, pushing for a finance major and minors in economics and creative writing. He became interested in writing poetry at the end of high school. He is trying to get into short story and nonfiction writing as well. His work revolves around the dark and depressing. Our first-place winner for the Rebirth Art Contest in the drawing/sketching category is Rachel Shave! She is currently a first-year Film Studies major with German and Creative Writing minors.

Deanna is a second-year English major at Laurier and is also pursuing a creative writing concentration. She mainly enjoys writing fiction and is especially enticed by the flash fiction genre. This post is a reminder that the Editor-in-Chief position is open! The EIC is Head of Blueprint Magazine and responsible for overseeing the rest of our team. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, March 17th, 2021.

To apply please send your platform and a copy of your resume to [email protected] A platform is similar to a cover letter as it outlines your interest in the role and any relevant past experience. The rest of your platform should outline what you wish to achieve in the role and your plans for the future of Blueprint.
The maximum platform is 30 pages. The minimum is 4 pages. Good luck!

Elements: Raw and Spark

Our final video for this series is Raw and Spark. Allow yourself to be immersed in an incredible story through Amichai Abraham, "The Greatest Invention". We finish with Mansi Jaswal, "A Frame of Her", a poem about a relationship gone south. Photography in this video is provided by Desiree Streef and Daniella Okezie. Elements: Earth

This week's video is in honour of our Mother Earth. We begin with Nadica Terzieva's poem "The Earth's Stories," followed by Isabella Andrade's "Counting On." We finish with Harrison Edgar's "I Want." Enrapture is the feeling of inexplicable joy. In this video is featured Harrison Edgar's short story "Ants," Isabella Andrade's poem "The Time is Coming," and Amichai Abraham's piece "Billy Idol". Elements: Fire 🔥 Today our keyword is Fire. Our first poem is Denna Berg's "Building Fire" followed by Harrison Edgar's poem "Watch". Photography is provided by Bukunmi Oyewole and Desiree Streef. Elements: Water

Elements: Water💧 Today we focus on water with it also being the keyword. Our submission, “Into the Deep” comes to us from Ashley Di Perna. Our second submission is “The Four Sisters” by Isabella Andrade with photography provided by Bukunmi Oyewole and Desiree Streef. Water promotes a sense of tranquility and solace through the sound of waves crashing against rocks. Hopefully, you will enjoy this week's readings and the calming water sound effect in the background. Stay tuned for next week for Fire.

Elements: Air

Here is our first Elements themed video for our online summer issue. The keyword we are focusing on for this week is Air. Our two live readings are Camille Dehghan's poem "The Wind" and Tyra Forde's "An Ode to Earth, Wind and Fire" ft. voiceover from Kiara Yllescas.
