Any of these things can happen to a business and some have more driving force than others depending on the market you are in. Growth feels great when you're a business owner, but planning your growth is crucial. How and when you grow can determine if you succeed or flop, and understanding the risks involved is essential. Here are the four strategies to grow your business, as outlined by the Ansoff Growth Matrix:

Market Pe*******on: Increase sales of existing products in your current market. This can involve improving marketing efforts or reducing prices to attract more customers. This is the safest method with the least amount of risk involved.

Market Development: Expand into new markets with your existing products. This could mean targeting a different geographical area, demographic, or even a new industry. This has medium risk as you are entering a new market.

Product Development: Innovate and introduce new products to your existing market. This approach focuses on meeting the evolving needs of your current customers. This has medium risk as your new product might not be well accepted or desired.

Diversification: Enter new markets with new products. This strategy is the most risky but can also offer significant rewards if successful.

Plan your growth strategy wisely, and make informed decisions to ensure your business thrives!

Today is World Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day (MSME Day), and as a business owner, I want to highlight how crucial it is to support local businesses.

This year's theme is particularly close to me as the United Nations is taking this year to emphasize supporting women and youth-owned businesses. In a world dominated by large conglomerates, it’s crucial to support diverse entrepreneurs who bring fresh perspectives and drive innovation. It's these small businesses that are most susceptible when economic changes like recessions, political unrest, and pandemics are likely to wipe them out (all of which are happening right now).

As a mother, this was a hard post to create. I went through hours of heart-wrenching reports about the conditions that so many children, many as young as my daughter, are forced to face. Many poverty-stricken parents sell their children to labour camps across the world to mine for toxic minerals. Once there, the children often starve and are deprived of basic human necessities. Things like schooling become a distant dream and many spend the rest of their lives in the mines and factories for big conglomerates.

Reading all these reports was an eye-opener opener for me and to be honest, shattered my reality quite a bit as I looked around my house at the brands that were listed to be a part of this disgusting and inexcusable behaviour. Countless companies are going around with the charade of being an ethical company while they stuff their skeletons back into a closet.

I will, however, also admit that I am one person and the only thing I can do is better educate myself, refuse to offer further support to these brands, and continue to try to do better. I wanted to share this post to hopefully help other people see the alternatives to some of the most infamous companies that use child labour. I hope this post will be of value to you and please share it with anyone you think would want to know more.
