In honour of Women’s History Month, I want to shine a light on Marlene H**e, one of the pioneers in Canadian advertising. As the most senior female creative in Canada at one time, Marlene broke barriers by being one of the first women in the ad industry to return to work after having a baby.

Her words resonate deeply with me. She sacrificed a lot, yet her trailblazing work opened doors that many of us walk through today. Encouraging women to join the advertising and marketing industry will continue to make great changes in the way companies promote themselves and I am proud to be a part of it.

Today, we pause to reflect on the profound impact of the residential school system—a dark chapter in our nation’s history where countless Indigenous children were torn from their families and forced to assimilate into a culture not their own. The pain, suffering, and loss endured by those children, their families, and entire communities are wounds that still run deep.

No words or apologies can truly mend the devastation caused. But as we remember and honour those who were lost, we commit to learning from these past atrocities. Exciting news for this Small Business Saturday!

This month, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve joined Hush Salon and Spa as the new manager for both of our beautiful locations in Guelph!

In this new role, I’ve been tasked with completely building up our marketing plan from scratch, managing all our marketing efforts across both locations, and taking the reins on our website management. It’s been quite the learning curve, and I want to thank everyone for their patience as I settle into this exciting new journey.

Today, I want to take a moment to celebrate my incredible grandmother, who turns 89 today! 🎉 Throughout her life, she has faced and survived more than her fair share of hardships, showing a strength and resilience that continues to inspire all of us.

She’s been blessed with 7 wonderful children, nearly a dozen grandkids, and 1 (soon to be 2!) great-grandchildren. We all cherish her deeply and are so grateful for the love and wisdom she has shared with us over the years. 💖

Here’s to a lifetime of love, strength, and countless cherished memories. Happy Grandparents Day and Happy Birthday to my amazing grandmother and all the wonderful grandparents out there!

Growth feels great when you're a business owner, but planning your growth is crucial. How and when you grow can determine if you succeed or flop, and understanding the risks involved is essential. Here are the four strategies to grow your business, as outlined by the Ansoff Growth Matrix:

Market Pe*******on: Increase sales of existing products in your current market. This can involve improving marketing efforts or reducing prices to attract more customers. This is the safest method with the least amount of risk involved.

Market Development: Expand into new markets with your existing products. This could mean targeting a different geographical area, demographic, or even a new industry. This has medium risk as you are entering a new market.

Product Development: Innovate and introduce new products to your existing market. This approach focuses on meeting the evolving needs of your current customers. This has medium risk as your new product might not be well accepted or desired.

Diversification: Enter new markets with new products. This strategy is the most risky but can also offer significant rewards if successful.
