Now, since the dust has settled on summer adventures, here’s the official wrap-up to the and some of my favourite images from racers.
-
Andrew Severson cranked out a new course FKT, completing all the mandatory photos and bonus for a record time of 7d 16h 15m.
-
Canadian bikepacking legend was enjoying a vacation ride with after winning the but still managed to casually finish only 75min behind Andrew. Meaghan now holds the women’s record with their finish time of 7d 17h 30m.
-
We had several other riders on the course over the summer, but for one reason or another, they ended short of the finish. Rain or shine, I hope you all enjoyed your experiences. I’m sure we’ll see a few back again to experience the rugged beauty of North Vancouver Island. To all the riders, thank you for tackling the course ~ BIG HUGS from me.

I was chatting with and he let me take a look at his very first YouTube upload called "A Sense of Place." Shot in and around Revelstoke. Loaded with glorious drone shots of him riding through towering mountains interjected with simple yet effective camera work shooting himself. The voiceless video had me to leave work, and head for the hills and ride into the sunset. Check it out and keep an eye on him. I think this budding filmmaker has some talent. Look how far iPhones have come. As I spend time setting up and shooting the milky way on my big camera... look what my iPhone 15 kicks out. Crazy Good.

Do you know these two characters? You should! (2024 women's winner of the Tour Divide) and her partner (singlespeed bikepacking aficionado). They will be tackling the starting this Saturday Aug 24. At the request of Meaghan's sanity, James will be riding his geared MTB. They will be tracked on only GPS beacon but riding as a pair. While said to be a "casual recovery ride" ~ I'm sure these two dynamos will churn out some serious days, while having some serious fun on the course. Follow for updates and link to TrackLeaders.

For those cyclist local to Victoria, or planning to visit a section of the Cowichan Valley Trail will be CLOSED August 10th to Late September

The CVRD is replacing an older bridge on the Cowichan Valley Trail (CVT) near Waters Road in Glenora

Construction is currently set to begin August 10, 2024 and will continue to late September, 2024. The work will see the removal of the existing bridge and the installation of a new clear span bridge. During this time, the link between Waters Road and Hawthorne Road Trailhead will be impassable due to bridge construction.

Have you beed following how .fix_it is doing on the race? ~ you should - her photos have been stunning! She's almost 500km into the 1350km route and still has many cool places to see, and flowers to smell along the way. Not to mention a bunch of places to swim too !! Pretty cool film by director/cyclist Chad Unger who is a Deaf Gay photographer and filmmaker in Los Angeles.

It's obvious that a deaf filmmaker would not use music and voiceover, as sound design. This feel, style of this film is so stark, refreshing, and compelling. I love how the ambient sounds of this film draws me closer to the words.... and then there is Chad's story.

Sunny & Slow

I enjoyed a chill day riding back to my start point in Chelsea Quebec nursing a tweaked knee / pulled hamstring. All of which made possible my attentive medical team, “Tylenol 3 & Ibuprofen”

Finished it off right with some Poutine & Ice Cream.

Makin’ Friends… barking dogs are just doing their doing their job, altering their huumans of a passing visitor. Salty is a dog-friendly zone, making quadraped friends everywhere he goes.
