Lester's Army hasn't been publishing for years. But we remember. We remember all the seniors that inspired us to create this magazine. We remember the purpose of Lester's Army, which was to build a strong relationship between the young and old so that we could transfer knowledge and remember the past.
Many of our comrades have fallen to old age, which will come for us all if we are lucky. But today, March 2020, my heart hurts to imagine the loss that we are seeing around the world. All those stories. All the collective memory of where we came from to guide us to where we are going.
I imagine all those who grew up in the depression era. All the skills and mental and emotional strength they achieved in that time. I am grieving. Love to all of you out there! If your grandparents are at home in isolation, give them a call, ask them to tell you a story from when they were young like you. Record it. Share it.
