This film proves there’s no set timeline for a coming of age story. Get inspired by the true tale of ‘Nyad,’ playing from Oct. 20 at the VIFF Centre.
Follow world-class athlete Diana Nyad (played by Annette Benning) as she embarks to finish the marathon swim – 110 miles in a shark cage – from Havana to Florida that she tried, and failed, at 28. This time, she’s doing it as her 60th birthday looms – and without the shark cage.

The women’s climbing film ‘Girls Gone Hueco’ is about more than just climbing; it's a celebration of authenticity, inclusivity, and the power of women breaking barriers together. Get inspired by their personal triumphs, forged connections, and unwavering resolve to conquer challenges on the rock walls of historic Hueco Tanks, Texas. Coming from different backgrounds, the climbers each have a unique personality, perspective, and approach to climbing, showing that there’s no one way to “be a climber.”
The Vancouver premiere takes place on October 10 at the Rio Theatre and tickets are $30, including a gear raffle ticket, with proceeds supporting The Global Climbing Initiative—a nonprofit driving positive change in climbing communities worldwide.

Save The Beaumont!
The future of The Beaumont Studios is in jeopardy, and they need your help!
Due to financial challenges and the soaring cost of real estate in Vancouver, the arts and events hub is at risk of having to close its doors permanently.
Since 2004, The Beaumont Studios has provided vital physical space and community support to thousands of creators through its two performance/exhibition spaces, The B1 Gallery, B-Side Radio, and The Beaumont Boutique.
Their closure would displace nearly 100 full-time artists, who produce their art in The Beaumont’s private art studios with glass-walled windows. Thousands of established and up-and-coming local talents, and other community members, who use, work, perform, play and operate in their creative space would also be impacted.
The Beaumont Studios' seeks the support of the community to keep their doors open. Donations made through their GoFundMe campaign will go towards helping the Beaumont team secure their financial stability and continue to provide a thriving creative space in Vancouver.
Donate today at gofundme.com/f/save-the-beaumont - and check out their Open Studios Pop-Up event on March 25 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. to see what your contributions will go towards supporting!
