Dr. Cary Miller and Residential School Survivor Lila Bruyere will take a hard look at how unconscious bias is still present in societal systems and attitudes today and what can be done to confront and change it. If you get ANY strange requests from an account using this name ... DO NOT open it, DO NOT click ANY links, and DO NOT reply to the sender.

(Those who know me, know that I'm simply not that curious about people, and I'm not that social. It's highly unlikely I would send you anything, and I'm more of a face to face person.)

I strongly recommend reporting the base account, report the post itself, and block the sender.

There are very bored scam artists desperate for money who have visited my profiles in the last few days. A few of these sketchy visitors were from a local security company well known for hiring questionable types, as well as a certain discount store and a fake educational account.

⚠️ Remember, DO NOT open the phishing links sent to you. ⚠️

For any Indigenous people going out tomorrow:

Most people think ... "It won't happen to me."

Most people think ... "I'm more educated, I'm more streetwise, I know what I'm doing, I'm old enough, or... Nothings happened before."

How many of the ones who didn't come home thought, "I'm going out tonight to have some fun, then accidently OD and kill myself."

How many thought "I'm just... / It's just... / We'll just..."

The Accidental Over Dose numbers aren't going down for a reason.

Your "tolerance" has no chance against added chemicals you didn't know were there.

And that's just the A&D aspect... there's also:
- being Native (esp. darker coloured)
- being female (if that's your pronoun)
- being 2S (gay bashing is still a thing)
- being young (ages 12 to 30, impulsivity)
- being in a city where Natives go missing weekly
- being in a society that will do nothing if they see you being hurt
- being at an event where people have left their moral compass at home
- being "protected" by agencies that will 100% profile you before believing you
- being "that guy/girl" that did not make a safety plan with others before going out

I'm not telling you to live in fear or not to enjoy your freedom.

I'm saying there are people out there who are not there to be your friend. I'm saying there are people that will attend who will not have the same intention of fun as you. I'm saying if things go wrong the above list will work against you.

Instead... make a plan, share it with friends, and buddy up!
Talk about how you are getting there, how long are you staying, what is your tolerance, what is your budget, know that getting home will take longer than usual, if you lose your wallet /purse /phone what is the next step? Buddies that arrive together, leave together. Should your club or party get pepper sprayed where will you meet up? Let people know you're home safe at the end of the night.

It's a tough world and it's complete BS that we have to pay the race tax, but the sooner we make watching out for each other a priority the better. Everybody makes it home.
