Great article Fetch Communications about helping clients understand how to work cooperatively with designers and facilitate client/agency collaboration!

Although Halloween is over, ask any marketing agency if they have a client horror story, and you’ll likely hear some version of a difficult or unreasonable client…

… such as a client (not an inexperienced new business owner but a seasoned CEO who said they had branding experience) who arrives woefully unprepared, with no business plan, unclear about their business objectives, unsure of their target audience, hasn’t decided what services they want to offer, etc., yet asking for brand creation, a website, and marketing collateral. Oh, and add “fast turnaround” to the list.

Adrift and in the dark isn’t a great starting place to create any kind of marketing material, and makes the designing process about as easy and enjoyable as root canal.

So let’s take some preventative measures, turn those lemons into lemonade, and guide those who are inexperienced in dealing with creatives. It’s also worth a quick read as a refresher, whether you’re a CEO with decades of experience with marketing agencies, a young Marketing Manager, or a seasoned Brand Director leading a team of designers.

Fall has more natural wonders to offer than vibrant coloured leaves. 🍁 Porcelain berry (Ampelopsis brevipedunculata) is a deciduous, woody, climbing vine in the grape family, known for its colourful fruit that ripens in September through October.

Its distinctive speckled berry has widely variable colouring, ranging from cream to pink, lilac, green, and blue. Porcelain berry can be found along forest edges, thickets, river and pond banks, and in open woodland areas.

Native to temperate areas of Asia including China, Japan, and India, it was first introduced in the United States in the 1870s as a landscape plant. Its invasive nature is problematic in the humid mid-Atlantic and southeast states where it can take over a natural habitat.

It is far less vigorous in Canada, New England and the Pacific Northwest, as seeds typically do not ripen and germinate where the growing seasons are shorter.
