Calling it an honour to describe my return to Shambhala Music Festival to perform at The Grove right after Lazy Syrup Orchestra had just opened the stage for the weekend would be taking it lightly. However, not many other words come to mind so I'll just get right into it. I am extremely proud, elated if you will, to be able to share this live recording of that beautiful Friday afternoon with you all.

Thank you to Matt Diamind and Mark Woodyard for joining me and performing the vocals and guitar on the first song which was Matt's very own "Take the Ride" - I couldn't imagine a better way to set the tone and transition into my set. Thank you to Dunks for the perfect intro. Thank you to the FOH technicians for the excellent live recording, and of course keeping it dialled all through out the set on the day. Thank you to The Grove Staff and Managers for creating such an amazing stage. Thank you to Shambhala for changing my life 12 years ago, and thank you to all the ravers who came out and danced in the sunshine with me - this place would be a lot less awesome without you

YES YES YA'LL! Been working extra hard on this and am THRILLED to finally announce YA BOY IS HITTING THE ROAD THIS WINTER/SPRING! Been couped up all winter and I'm ready to get OOT and ABOOT! We've got some very special shows planned for y'all all over Western Canada - and still have more in the works. Kicking things off right in Vancouver at DICE Vancity with Dunks . First road show is in Cumberland with my main man Wave Dalton and West Coast party legend Mt. Eliah - then off to Squamish to rock it with one of my oldest mentors and turntable wizard DJ Praiz .SEE YOU OOT THERE!!!!

Yes Yes! Very excited to share some clips I've been sitting on from the Skratch Bastid Tuesday Morning Coffee x Blunch collab that went down in my hometown of Toronto this summer right before the Vancouver Bastid BBQ. We coincidentally we're repping each others hood on our T's - him with Pizza Coming Soon and myself with Play De Record . The vibes were right from the start. Thank you Bastid for the invitation, calling it an "honour" does not even come close to doing what this moment meant to me justice. It was such an honour to be invited back to Bass Coast Festival to perform for a second year in a row - an invitation thats importance was not lost on me. A lot of DJ's shy away from day time sets, but to me, playing in the day and killing it is a hallmark of a good DJ. You can't go too hard or it won't fit the vibe, but if you don't go hard enough it can be boring. You really have walk a fine line. So shout out all DJ's who can play at all times of night and day, and the producers making the music and remixes that can fit a dance floor or a car ride home from the festival.

This years theme being "Reflection" I wanted to present an accurate portrayal stylistically of my last ten years as a DJ. Ranging the full spectrum of BPM and leaving to no stone unturned, utilizing new techniques and technology that only became available to me this year, and trying things on stage I've never tried before, I am very proud to present my set from Basscoast 2024 at the Cabin Stage on Saturday afternoon. If you were there, I hope this brings you back to a happy place, and if this is your first time hearing it, I hope you enjoy.

As of tonight I'll have been DJing in front of audiences for ten years now. Pretty crazy to think back on all the connections, friends, memories, and life that emerged from doing this. Still haven't found anything that makes me happier when doing it. Thanks everyone for all the support over the years, I wouldn't be anywhere near where I'm at with out my friends n family, and I have no plans on stopping or slowing down ❤️🎶.

Well I'm on the road to one of my favourite parties of the year Wicked Woods Music Festival where i'll be raving out with the homies and playing the Unicorn Lounge 4:30am on sunday night/monday morning. But first! I'm thrilled to let ya'll know I'm throwing a lil OUTDOOR DAY PARTY birthday jam at Vantek industrial garden. We will have this incredible line up of some of my best friends and favourite DJ's, a food truck, the heavy weight VOID sound system, and of course Blunts and Lunch. Grab ya tix in my bio and I'll see you either in the woods this weekend or Sept 22 in the city!

New mix just dropped for Mat The Alien 's Subtle Radio show. First half is his all original set from the Cantina last year at Bass Coast Festival . Second half is a recording I did for the show, with lots of music new and old that made me think of Mat's style which influenced me heavily as a DJ. My bit starts at 55 minutes in but listen to the whole thing REALLY GOOD!!!!

Pretty stoked to rock the main room at The Pearl tomorrow night for the boogie nights crew. Doing a more funky/4 on the floor kinda set. Last time in the upstairs room was so much fun. These guys have been building a really great monthly night and it'll be my last show in Vancouver till summers end, come get some!!!

Heading back to Wicked Woods Music Festival again this year !!!! A little late on the post here but I really wanted to take a moment to profess my appreciation for this shin dig. I've said this to many folks in conversation, but I really wanted to say publicly that the Wicked Woods organization was the first festival to make me feel fully appreciated and welcome as an artist, and in 5 consecutive years that feeling has never stopped. It also happens to be a DAMN DOPE party in an extremely beautiful location with some awesome people. Don't miss this one to end off the summer. See ya in the woods fam!!!

Happy Monday everyone, it's your local neighbourhood gun finger slangin' Civillian here to remind you about 2 very fun shows coming up in Vancouver the next 2 weekends. Summer is about to kick into high gear so I won't be playing in town for a while after this, get it while you can!

Up first we have the official pre party hosted by at the on Saturday June 1st. Beyond the incredible line up, the club has a special license and will be open till 4am 🤯. I'll be on late, so you can expect a bass laden heavy grimey stank face kinda set from me that night.

AND THEN! Something very different, I'll be returning to .pearl.vancouver in the main room this time for the crew who have been consistently crushing their night since they started it earlier this year. This one is gonna be a more 4x4 focused funky, disco and housey type set with SOUL, and of course some heavy umph as well.

First up I'll be COMING THRU Golden to The Rockwater to open and close for the LEGEND and my hands down favourite voice in hip hop Chali 2na & DJ Shub Thursday may 9th.

And then Friday May 10th I'll be making my long awaited return to the The Last Drop in Revelstoke for the Shambhala Music Festival pre party with one of my favourite line ups I've been a part of in a long long time ft. Big time DJ inspiration Kato , Revvys most underground taste maker Ray Ray , my personal favourite up n comer Dolla Hilz , and the one and only Tiny Dancer . Mafckin PARTY CAT CREW UNITE!

Well Cumberland and Tofino with the Lazy Syrup boys was an absolute hoot. Two sold out shows with some of the most attentive crowds I've ever had the pleasure of playing for, and some of the best friends to road trip with a guy could hope for. Very little video evidence.... I guess you just had to be there! But if you weren't the fun continues this Saturday ON HOME TURF BABY! Shahdjs put so much heart into their events, it's an honour to be involved with any of their productions. Two room party with a heck of a line up, and I'm telling you right now I'm gonna get grimey for this one. Don't sleep on tix, you won't want miss this one ❤️🙏

The The Grove is truly a sight and sound to behold when the rig is humming, the lights are lit, the projectors are projecting, the performers are dancing, and the discs are being jockeyed. It's come such a long way in its transformation from its humble roots as The Labyrinth (TBT to those who were there!) to what is now often considered one of the most tastefully curated stages at Shambhala Music Festival , or in the PNW to me, or some would say even in the world. Truly a Shady Grove of respite in the middle of a Rave Metropolis. Thank you to the team for having me on this incredibly diverse and talented line up, there's nowhere else I'd rather be!!! 🪩❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🪩

Our Story

Civillian is a DJ of the people. After cementing his reputation as one half of the A/V space trap duo Gangstronauts, he now has both hands planted firmly on the decks and his ears to the street. His roots in classic rock and golden era hip-hop quickly evolved into a deep-seated love for funky, glitchy bass music. Moving to Vancouver from his hometown of Toronto and being exposed to the sound system culture in B.C. was a huge catalyst for this. From there his interests shifted heavily towards all spectrums of dance music, from house to jungle and everything in between.

Throughout his many years spent around the electronic music community in Vancouver, Civillian became a core member of INEO Studios a projection mapping and events company based in Vancouver where he is now the Production Manager and Talent buyer. There he began organizing and curating large scale warehouse parties and VJing throughout the city.

But behind the decks is where Civillian is most at home. With an ever expanding record collection, a finely tuned turntablist toolbox, and an intuitive ear, his confidence in technicality and selection is self evident. Combined with ninja-like versatility in any situation from living room house parties, to underground warehouse raves, clubs, and big outdoor festivals, Civillian always has what the people want.
