Still here, still ear(s)

Mastering is often seen as some sort of "black art", having no knowledge of the occult we can assure you it is not. A skilled ear and a remarkably accurate listening environment are at the core of a great mastering studio. At CPS Mastering each project is treated individually, keeping the integrity of the mixes in tact while providing clients with a polished final product that both protects and co
mplements the work of the team who created it. Using a mix of both quality analog and precision digital equipment to provide the best possible product to your listeners, on CD, vinyl, or any from of digital distribution.
Still here, still ear(s)
Life lately. Work, cats, work, bunnies, work, and my first attempt at adding “dungeon master” to my mastering resume. Gonna share more random life stuff here. Will there be k***s, yes, will there be more bunnies, hopefully.
Some headphone power plants to have a listen to.
Still here, at the best desk job I can think of.
Your long overdue dose of this room. Not much has changed, which means things are working well. Feeling very lucky looking at this photo, realizing this was all once a dream. grateful to call this the office.
Making my sacrifice to the face loving algorithms.
I cleaned up! And I also got a new phone with a camera that actually works (and has a wide angle I’ll definitely overuse)
Whoops, there went 3 months again.
Rest assured, we’re still here, and not much has changed. Just us sittin here trying to make music sound as good as we possibly can. Hoping you’re all doing splendid and hoping we can remember to post pictures of this place a bit more often again.
2 posts in one week! What universe is this?
Trying out some things I’ve abandoned in the recent past, just can never figure out if I actually like this nOb. I’ve always felt like controllers are mostly klunky where they should be seamless. Anything you love and can’t live without? I’ve been meaning to setup a stream deck to try, but, again, just can’t find the time to set it up even if it might end up making things faster in the long haul, but, maybe 2022 and this long rambling post is what it’ll take………
New Year, Still Here
A massive and never ending thank you to all the Artists, Engineers, Producers, that brought their creations through our ears this year, somehow, between Elisa and Brock we worked on an astonishing 627 projects at CPS this year.
Here is to 2022 filling up all our personal cups as much as it does our work ones, and hey, maybe we’ll actually start posting phots regularly again…
Oh hey! Quarterly update here to tell y’all were still here and mastering away, so much good stuff to share, keep you eyes on the stories! Going to try and start posting pictures of this room again if that’s a thing you’d like still? Nothing much changes, but we like it here..
Oh hey! Long time no see!
Despise the flagrant lapse of posts, we’re still here and still mastering away! Photo above from the new morning routine. Some intentional/mindful time to start the day. Focussing on how lucky I am to be here and doing this, really helps cut through the cloud of 863959663 things zipping around in the world around me. Hope you’re all doing ok! Take some time for you if you can!
Wow, 5 months goes by real fast. Sorry for the radio (internet radio?) silence over here, rest assured, were still here mastering records, in fact, I just checked and an incredible 322!! projects have passed through our ears over the last 5 months, and were biased, but its some of the best work we’ve ever done. We’ve been working on a couple lil extra things too, stay tuned, more pictures of this silly room, TONS of amazing music to share and some art coming your way soon. A massive thanks to all of you following, and to every single artist, engineer, producer, and everyone else for their support, if we didn’t have records to master I have no idea what we’d do.
The world has felt pretty upside down for the last bit, so having pictures of this spot in your feed hasn’t felt super necessary lately. But rest assured, we’re still here, still mastering. Sending lots of love out to all of you during these times, hope you’re listening to some good music.
I went down the headphone rabbit hole over the last few months. More info to come including a roundup of who stuck around, but in the meantime. Beautiful pictures of ear candy.
I blame and for leading me here. But I’m glad they did.
Spending my birthday morning with a group of good friends.
I ordered this shirt months ago. And it just arrived this week, perfect timing really. Wishing you and everyone physical and mental wellbeing in these wild times.
Oops, forgot to post for a couple weeks again. Here is my face as a reward (or punishment?) Still here, still mastering, my hands are a little more dry and cracked than usual though.
The only thing keeping me calm these days...
Tune in January 16th to learn about LUNA: https://www.uaudio.com/namm
The view from up there.
Sorry for the lack of posts (I feel like I say that every few weeks). It’s been full steam ahead (is full electrons ahead a more appropriate thing to say these days?) mastering what feels like a billion amazing projects. A whole whack of amazing songs and albums came out today. So if you’re looking for something to give a spin, check out my stories. 1,000,000 thanks to each and every artist that trusts these ears and walls with thier art. 🙏
These 3 notebook and this pile of post it’s is the only thing between me and complete anarchy. I should probably switch to a smarter more digital solution, maybe in 2025...
Last prints of a super busy week. Thankful for this couch
to 7 years ago almost to the day that I got this absolute masterpiece of an eq. Insanely proud to own serial “Numero Uno” (of only 4) of this hand built piece of art from Finnish designer Jonte Knif, a passive filter network, made with film caps and inductors that are hand wound by Jonte and encased in mu-metal shielding. The input and output transformers have local-relay switching to provide a mid/side matrix without adding a single component to the signal path. Combine all that with a great tube makeup amp, featuring my favourite vacuum tube of all time, the amazing C3G tube designed by amplifier engineers for the german post. (Used in the transcontinental telephone line!)
These tubes feed a huge pair of amorphous core output transformers made by Lundahl of Sweden.
All this is powered by an massive power supply, complete with choke filtering. And I mean, it looks nice too. Been on hundreds of records over the last 7 trips around the sun. And looking forward to at least a few thousand more with it.
After 3 decades of licking batteries and ignoring warning labels I finally got myself a proper scope. Let the grown up science commence!
Still here, still mastering.

Back to your regularly scheduled “business end” photos. I adjusted the angle of my monitor by about 2degrees today, so you know it’s a new photo...
