The broadcasting world is no stranger to the term "pipes," which is used to describe those rich, captivating voices that transport your imagination to another realm. Al Murdoch possesses these remarkable pipes!
You've likely heard his voice countless times, even if you can't immediately place it. It graces advertisements for major brands like Ford, Nike, McDonald's, 7-Eleven, Dunkin' Donuts, as well as in movie trailers for Universal Pictures and network promos for CBS, Fox, and HBO. Al is also known as the voice of the NHL Winter Classic, NHL All-Star Weekend, NHL Stadium Series, and Heritage Classic outdoor games over the past four years. He's the announcer for the syndicated "Judy Justice" series, the latest television venture for "Judge Judy."
Locally, Al Murdoch is best recognized as the in-house announcer for the Vancouver Canucks, where his distinctive voice fills Rogers Arena. His broadcasting journey began early in life.
Growing up, Al was drawn to the world of radio. He vividly recalls the day his father brought home a new transistor radio when he was just six years old. Riding his bike through the neighborhood with the music blaring, he felt an immediate connection when the DJ's voice came on, as if the DJ were speaking directly to him. That moment sparked his lifelong aspiration to work in radio.
