La̱'mux̱w 'ma̱gwabo'yiya! It’s October! 🎃

In Kwak̕wala we call October 'ma̱gwabo'yi as it’s the month of the round moon.

In Kwakwa̱ka̱'wakw cultures, we often knew times by the moons. With the everchanging weather, spawning or growing patterns, these “moons” aren’t at the same time every year like the used to.

Since early March, late February, I have been working with Aurellia Nelson (owner of Premium Culture Club) on the pamphlets for her first Kwakwa̲ka̲'wakw Fashion Show, hosted back on April 12th.

There were many changes (and looking back some corrections needed) made in the month or so we worked on it together.

On April 11th we changed the agenda/flow of the event last minute, so the printed pamphlets (and the ones I share now) are inaccurate to how it really happened.

However, I wanted to share as is because I’m so proud of Aurellia’s hard work bringing us together this day. I’m hoping to work with Aurellia in updating her website in the next few months, so keep an eye on that as well.
