On Wednesday, Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk revealed that the band "will not be touring or playing live again".

The statement comes after multiple postponements and ultimately the cancelation of their reunion tour.

Rage Against The Machine formed in 1991 in Los Angeles. Known for their politically charged lyrics and activism, their music often addresses social injustice, political corruption, and institutional oppression.

Their activism goes beyond their lyrics. In 2007, the band reunited to perform at Coachella. The decision was met with controversy due to the festival's ties to Philip Anschutz, a conservative billionaire. The band used the opportunity to donate their earnings from the show to support immigrant rights organizations.

In 2023, Rage Against The Machine was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but only guitarist Tom Morello attended to accept the award. During his acceptance speech, he told the crowd “If you've got a boss, join a union. If you're an anarchist, throw a brick. If you're a soldier or a cop, follow your conscience, not your orders".

Florence + The Machine formed in 2007. The band originally began as a teenage project between Florence Welch and Isabella "Machine" Summers. Florence and Isabella met as kids when Isabella babysat Florence's younger sister Grace.

They first performed under the name "Florence Robot/Isa Machine". According to Welch, "The name Florence and the Machine started off as a private joke that got out of hand. I made music with my friend, who we called Isabella Machine to which I was Florence Robot. When I was about an hour away from my first gig, I still didn't have a name, so I thought 'Okay, I'll be Florence Robot Is A Machine' before realizing that name was so long it'd drive me mad."

Since 2009, the band has released five studio albums and has been nominated for 100 awards, including six Grammys.

Released in 1987, The Pogues' "Fairytale of New York" was inspired by stories of Irish immigrants.

Shane MacGowan claimed that the song began as a bet with producer Elvis Costello, who claimed the band wouldn't be able to write a hit Christmas single.

Costello originally wanted to name the song "Christmas Eve In The Drunk Tank", but MacGowan named it after J.P. Donleavy's novel of the same name that was left lying around the studio.

Originally, the song was found controversial due to its use of derogatory terms. Despite this, it still remains a beloved Christmas classic.
