Episode 58 - Citizenship in Asia
What is the primary factor you consider as you move to a new country? 🌎
In this episode with Jason and Arielle, we covered a crucial topic that aspiring emigrants must need to think about. Being a citizen or a permanent resident is not the same thing, and you'd have to be ready to take risks, especially when you decide to move to a country that's not open to accepting citizenship. These cases are especially evident in Asian countries, and we talk more about them in this week's episode. 🗣🧠

Episode 58 - Deciding to Leave the Philippines
In a country like the Philippines, Arielle was surrounded by people that constantly dreamed of moving abroad. The OFWs or Overseas Filipino Workers are continually increasing because more and more people are deciding to leave the Philippines to seek better opportunities outside their country. 🌥👣
Having the same mindset, Arielle's plan to migrate was half-baked until he met her partner Jason. Jason is a half Filipino-Australian emigrant who left Australia to move to the Philippines. When they met and eventually became lovers, the couple decided to leave the Philippines and move to Hong Kong, where Jason got offered a job. 🌎🛬

Episode 57 - Fitting into Japan
How did you surpass the tricky part of fitting into a new country? 🌎
Fitting in is something most emigrants find the most challenging part of their journey abroad. The culture of the country you're moving into, I think, is the most notable factor in helping you adapt to a new environment. 🛬👽
David, who had long dreamt of living in Japan, also had negative experiences because of him being a Westerner. Moving to a country like Japan, where the culture is rich and far different from the West, you couldn't avoid local's eyes staring at you. Expect to be treated differently because you are different - you're a foreigner for them. 👥
Despite that, there's always room for fitting in. Do your part as an emigrant and respect the country's culture you're moving into but be sure to keep your dignity as a person too. If you feel disrespected despite your countless efforts, then you'll probably need to consider a different country where you'll feel fit and appreciated. 🌥

Episode 57 - First Year Abroad
Moving to a new country is a total disconnection from the things you're used to. Adjusting might be one of the hardest things to do, but it's also one of the most rewarding accomplishments as an emigrant. 🛬
In this episode, David shares his story as he moves from various countries and finally settles in Portugal with his wife. The craving for new adventures will always be alive for David, who loves traveling, but the chance to finally find a place to settle in is another sort of satisfaction. 🌥
