It's having the emotional intelligence to ask yourself “why am I so frustrated?” You're frustrated because it used to be easy and now is a challenge.
You get annoyed and frustrated. And this is part of the process of adaptation.

A lot of people give up in this phase, and they don't understand that is part of the process. You just have to go through it.

It's part of your adaptation process and it will go away eventually.

You have to grow skills and competencies that you didn’t have. Reframe the situation you’re in and understand that there's nothing wrong with you.

When Marta and her husband decided to move to Japan, little did they know that they would also be starting a family. And while becoming a mother can be challenging for anyone, for Marta it was especially difficult. She had to learn how to navigate the Japanese healthcare system, deal with cultural differences, and learn new parenting skills all while adapting to life in a new country.

In this episode, she shares her experiences and offers advice to other mothers who may find themselves in a similar situation.

Marta is originally from Portugal. She lived in Spain, London, and now Japan. She also traveled the world as a flight attendant. Her first experience abroad was through a scholarship program called Erasmus. After that experience, she knew that her life was going to be away from Portugal.
The exposure to many different cultures was eye-opening. So years later, Marta managed to move to England and found a job thanks to her background in aviation. In London, Marta met her husband who is from Belarus.
When her husband's visa was about to expire, he had the opportunity to move to Japan. To do so the two had to get married, and they only had 3 days to do it.

When you grow up in a country, you slowly build your ecosystem over time. You know where to go groceries, find that specific product. You have your family doctor and know what medicine to take when you don't feel well. You know exactly how to navigate every aspect of your life or whom to reach out to. When you move abroad, you lose all of that and have to build your ecosystem back up in a very short time. Even going grocery and finding your favorite brand seems impossible.

It's not my intent to create a dark picture of what living abroad is like, but if you follow my content, you know that I don't sugarcoat things. Living abroad is a beautiful life-changing experience, but you can't change by going through unicorns and rainbows.

What was your experience? And what was the main challenge you had to face?

Happy Monday!!

Does having a daily routine important to you? 🤔

Moving abroad requires a lot of things. All these wouldn't be possible without determination, from choosing which country to move to, processing your requirements, and settling into a new environment. 🌍✈️

As Erez shares his journey to emigrating, he shares how having a systematic way of living has helped him succeed and eventually settle in a new country. When we want to achieve something, FOCUS is our primary opponent. Some might not agree, but having a plan or a daily routine makes everything easier. It keeps us focused and reminded of what we want to accomplish. 🌠🚀

What is the primary factor you consider as you move to a new country? 🌎

In this episode with Jason and Arielle, we covered a crucial topic that aspiring emigrants must need to think about. Being a citizen or a permanent resident is not the same thing, and you'd have to be ready to take risks, especially when you decide to move to a country that's not open to accepting citizenship. These cases are especially evident in Asian countries, and we talk more about them in this week's episode. 🗣🧠
