Entrepreneurship is designed for families! I’m sure it’s great for the 23 year old, cold plunge, internet bro’s, but think about it… A lot of people have got it twisted. They think entrepreneurship is just about the quickest way to make the most money. Go back fifty to one hundred years, though… It was the bedrock of family. Farms and ranches. The local cobbler. The family run restaurant. The town doc. The electrician. The local shop owner. The bakery on the corner. It’s not just a potential path to freedom. It’s also a powerful tool to raise our kids with strong values. It’s an asset that we can bestow upon them. It’s the arena where our character is battle tested. But juggling the demands of business and family can feel hard (because it is), and sometimes the pendulum swings too hard one way. I’ve been in countless seasons of it. What’s helped me integrate the two has been a focus on harmony over balance. I want my life to feel better than it looks 🫶🏽 Curious if anyone else is craving this, too? It’s been a longtime coming for me, bubbling up, creating a stirring in my spirit. Our culture has gotten so curation-heavy, esthetically driven, that we’ve lost touch with reality, I think. Nothing wrong with craving beauty, or appreciating something nice… But I see it sometimes getting in the way of what matters. It feels like more of a worshipping, an obsession, a competition. If it takes longer to paint the walls here with the “right colors” because I’m busy participating in a cannonball competition in the pool 💦 so be it! Life isn’t about balance, it’s about honoring priorities. …And mine say “mom” 46 times an hour and demand snacks like they’ve been stranded on a desert island for months 🤪 For the record, I’ve applied this approach to how I run my company, and we’re up 42% this quarter… so, I’m sticking with it! You can stay safe, or you can stay open 🫶🏽 But you can’t do both. Everything worthwhile lies on the other side of risk. After almost losing my life, you’d think I’d crave more safety… But it backfired, I guess (much to my mother’s dismay) 🤪 I realized how short life is and how if I could go out soon, the risk of playing small felt far more dangerous than living full out. I stripped away everything that felt heavy (not hard, but heavy) and reimagined what life could look like. My priorities came into focus like never before, and I pursued my family, my calling, my gifts, and my mission HARD. It was a little scary, stripping away things that drive revenue, comforts, things I liked, or things that I’ve always done… But guess what happened? I was ready to settle for less… A lesser house. Less money. Less visibility. Less acknowledgment. But for the first time in my life, I was introduced (through God’s grace) to abundance! And it’s been WILD!! The most incredible doors opening. The most unbelievable growth. The most aligned opportunities. The most wonderful home. The most precious time. The most peace.
