Last week, I received a notification that someone had tried to access my Facebook account but was unsuccessful. I wasn't worried because I have two-factor authentication set up. I manage a lot of pages, so the extra protection for my personal profile is crucial.
Yesterday, I saw posts from a couple friends who were obviously hacked. While the posts were mild (ads for sunglasses), and they're more an inconvenience than anything else, it's a good idea to try and protect personal information that may be on your profile. Setting up two-factor authentication is easy and helps ensure your profile is protected.
To set it up, go to your settings and find Security and Login under Settings and Privacy. Once you turn on two-factor authentication, anytime someone tries accessing your Facebook profile from an unrecognized device, they'll be asked to enter a special login code or confirm the login attempt. There will also be an alert sent when access is attempted.
In this world we live in, keeping our information protected, even just our social media profiles, is important. Stay safe online!
