But most of all, it’s a story of change. It’s about the distance you travel when you’re 11-turning-12, what it takes to be true to yourself on that journey and the kind of mentoring relationship that can bring you closer to who you want to be. Coming soon wherever you listen to podcasts.

We need to look deeper at boys’ inner lives.

I’m skilled at building strong, authentic relationships with boys, and I’m versed in gender theory related to masculinities. Throughout my various the experiences, I have countless stories that challenge the traditional ‘boys will be boys’ rhetoric—stories of tears, of vulnerability, of bravery and sadness. These are stories that are worth sharing, but they’re also stories that for the most part aren’t really mine to tell.

So this podcast is a way for boys to tell those stories themselves. It’s a way to confront patterns of violence and create new spaces for connection. As the adage goes, boys will not be boys. They will be men. What if we could stay connected to them and help them become healthy, gentle, loving men? What if we taught them to meet fear with honesty, to meet isolation with communication, to meet violence with dignity? What if each boy met the boy code with a chain breaker and an open heart?

It starts by changing the way we relate to them. And to do that we need to look deeper at boys’ inner lives and the personal, emotional experiences that are often hidden from view.
