The very first minute from one of my favourite wedding films.
And here’s why.
Anjali had a little surprise for Kaamil on the wedding day. She wrote a poem in Urdu and had Kaamil’s grandfather recite it.
And this is only an excerpt, but it was such a beautiful moment.
I love moments like these because they are so personal and so memorable. I don’t have the words to describe it, but it’s just beautiful.

Wajiha’s entrance was already so beautiful, but having Mustafa talk about how he admires her so much just makes this clip so much better.

Just a little ‘slow-motion chocolate powder dusting’ teaser for an upcoming project that I can’t wait to share.
ft. @thekitchenmission and graded with @filmconvert for those lovely film colours.

Malikah and Zuheir - Teaser (Black and White)
We're so used to films with colour, but black and white still has this weird special feeling to it.
It has this charm and invokes these feelings of nostalgia - even for an event that only happened a few months ago. Or maybe it helps us focus on what's really there - getting rid of the vibrant colours and focusing on the two people in the middle, starting their new lives together.
Either way, we love it.
This is a short clip from our wedding film 'Malikah and Zuheir'. We were so happy to capture this film and tell their beautiful story!

Her Royal Science (2022) - Trailer
Storytelling is powerful.
Storytelling allows us to connect and empathize with one another. It allows us to really understand someone. It even has the ability to build a community.
When Dr. Bashir started her podcast, she never thought it would grow into the community today. She never thought that, through a platform designed to give a voice to those that typically don't get heard, she could bring people together.
That's why I love this story. Because it's all about visibility, validation, connection and community. And when Asma first told me her story, I knew I had to be a part of it.
We're premiering this film on Feb 2nd. The premiere will be all-day, and we'll be having a roundtable to discuss neuroscience, film and identity!

food for thought is a short documentary piece on @thekitchenmission. I was always inspired by her work, but more so after learning her story.
With a deep desire to help people, Ilhaam started an Instagram page with her recipes and approach to cooking. She built a huge community through her work, and has grown so much through her journey.
Also, I can attest to how good her food is. It’s SO good.

It’s easy to be pessimistic about the world we live in, and that’s why I’m always so inspired by optimism.
I think it takes strength to be optimistic, and that’s why I admire people who are.
That’s why this project excites me so much, and I genuinely can’t wait to share it with you.
So check out the trailer for Communicating with Kindness, and the full film will be available on October 22 at @aliraza_rashid’s page.
Film is more than entertainment; it’s capturing an important memory and immortalizing it.
I recently got to capture this beautiful story about a baby named Samanah Fatemah. It was about her journey home from the NICU after 52 weeks.
Every time I watch this film, I think about that whole day. How special it was for everyone involved and all the moments and emotions.
So here’s the trailer to “Our Journey Home”
Even though I’ve been making films for quite some time now, I still feel like I have still so much to learn.
And not just about filmmaking - storytelling, marketing, psychology, even humanities and business skills.
I think no matter where you are in life, you’ll still have so much to learn. Younger me might’ve found that daunting, but I’ve grown to appreciate it.
I made this short film for a challenge in my storytelling community, and I’ve already learnt so much. If I were to reshoot it today, I’d know what I’d do differently to make this even better than it already is.
So I guess that’s growth.
The thing I love about filming weddings is the raw emotion you get from it.
Every time I edit a wedding, engagement or lifestyle film, I feel that emotion. I feel that love. It’s hard not to smile while watching it because I know it’s such a beautiful thing.
And with Sayeda and Ali, you could feel the love not only from these two amazing people, but from their families. This was such an amazing wedding to capture.

Eid Mubarak from The Curious Society
Eid Mubarak to all my Facebook friends who are celebrating!
I know we aren't able to celebrate in person, but hopefully next year we are able to see each other face to face.
Until then, I hope you and your families have a wonderful and blessed day!
Before I became a filmmaker, I was an ESL teacher. And I loved my job.
I loved meeting inspiring people and helping them by giving them the tools to achieve what they want. And ever since I moved into video production, I've wanted to bring that aspect of my job into what I do.
So I'm now offering one-on-one consultations. Book an hour with me to chat about filmmaking, storytelling, video editing, writing - anything that I can help you with.

As every year passes, I realize how much I enjoy the month of Ramadhan.
When I was a kid, I always thought it was the no food no water month. Slowly as I started to grow up, it became a month of reflection. And now, with everything that’s going on, it’s become a month of community.
I discovered @homelandcandleco right before Ramadhan and knew I had to get these candles. It’s things like these that bring that spirit of Ramadhan - the idea that we should constantly be looking inward, and that, although this might feel like a lonely effort, it is a communal journey.

For the past few shoots, I’ve got to work with my amazing wife @salwamawji.
Not only is she really talented with visual stuff like photo and video, she’s always given me the pep talks and the motivation to keep doing what I do.
As a matter of fact, she’s the one who pushed me into starting my own video production business.
So when I say I couldn’t have done this without her, I very much mean it.
(Though she loves saying “I told you so”)
