Minimum Planning Standards:
The Province of Nova Scotia has required all municipalities to adopt minimum land use planning standards. As such, MOPC will engage with a planning consultant to develop our planning documents, including a Land Use Bylaw (LUB) and a Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS). This exercise will commence within the next few weeks and is expected to take approximately two years to complete.
MOPC understands that, while exciting for some, this exercise may create anxiety within our communities. Please know that MOPC takes these concerns seriously and, as we work through this process, the public will have significant opportunities to have your voices heard and incorporated into our new documents. Public consultations will be held throughout our municipality, and opinions may be shared by phone, email, and other means.
If you have questions or comments about the development of MOPC’s planning documents, please email [email protected] or call our office at 902-485-4085.
Please note that while we strive to respond to questions as quickly as possible, responses may be delayed depending on available staffing resources.
