Category 1 FIRE BAN COMING INTO EFFECT FOR all of BC
Campfires, backyard fires and beach fires are not permitted from noon on Friday, July 12.
Effective noon on Friday, July 12, 2024, a fire ban will be in place for all of BC. The ban applies to all recreational fires, including campfires, backyard fires and beach fires anywhere within the city’s fire protection area. All open burning and using items such as fireworks, sky lanterns, burning barrels, and torches (including propane torches for the purpose of burning weeds) are prohibited.

Transformations on the shore is well under way at Frank James Park Willow Point, with the chainsaw carving competition. You can vote for your favourite up until Saturday night I believe. It's amazing the precision and detail that they can create from chainsaws. This is just 6, there are others still taking shape. It's free to visit, they have a few carvings you can buy, the smell is awesome, ocean and wood. hhhmmmmm. 😀 🏆

Welcome to the 2024 Campbell River Photo Hunt. All photo hints in this album are hidden until 9:00 am on Saturday, June 1st. Tourism Season Opening Day. (Visit explorecampbellriver.com for events happening this day.)

HOW TO PLAY

1. Make sure you are registered at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/2024-campbell-river-photo-hunt-tickets-903847130097 before 4pm on June 1st. Entry cost is $5. Only one person on your team needs to be registered.

2. Look at all the photos in this 2024 CR Photo Hunt album. Each photo was taken recently in Campbell River.

3. Go to the location shown in each photo and take your own photo there. (All locations are somewhere near a camera icon shown on this 2024 CR Photo Hunt Map.)

4. Post your version of the photo in the comments section of each corresponding photo to earn points for that location.

5. Add certain elements to your photo to earn bonus points (explained below).

6. This is not a race! Play safely and don't get disqualified for bad sportsmanship or unsafe behaviour! Deadline for submissions is 11:59 pm, June 1st, 2024.

7. Get as many points as you can before the end of Tourism Season Opening Day, June 1st, 2024. The team with the most points wins. Ties will be broken with a draw.

Note: Photos you post here may be used by What’s On Digest and other Tourism Season Opening Day organizers to help promote Campbell River around the world.

SCORING & BONUS POINTS.

📷 +10 points: Every photo submission with an accurate location is worth 10 points.

📢 +2 points: local organizations within eye-shot of your location. +2 per up to +10 points.

🐋 +2 points: and

😄 +3 points: get your beautiful face in the shot.

📐+5 points: shoot the exact same angle and crop (excluding the last two photos).

👍 +50 points: post a photo of you and your team in the comments of this map to let us know you have registered and agree to the rules and conditions mentioned above.

Maximum score (but very unlikely) = 640 points.

FIRE BAN COMING INTO EFFECT FOR CAMPBELL RIVER
Campfires, backyard fires, and beach fires are not permitted from noon on Thursday, June 8.

Effective noon on Thursday, June 8, 2023, a fire ban will be in place for the City of Campbell River (the City). The ban applies to all recreational fires, including campfires, backyard fires, and beach fires anywhere within the municipal boundary. All open burning and using items such as fireworks, sky lanterns, torches, and burning barrels are prohibited. The fire ban follows a long stretch of dry weather throughout spring, a rapidly increasing fire danger rating, and an active early fire season.
