British politician, William Hague, says we should start treating ultra-processed food like to***co. That, we can agree with. We would also say to treat all the pesticide-laced GMO junk food accordingly, as well.

Today in my family we had some rashes from browntail moth caterpillars. (the hairs on these caterpillars are poisonous hence the rashes) Rashes on both my fiance and my son. Washed it off with soapy water first! For my son I sprayed Wanded water onto the rash and put bentonite clay on the rash. After the bentonite clay had dried, it was washed off with water and all the swelling is gone, just some redness. Tonight I wanded his rash at bedtime Looking forward to seeing more improvements in the morning. Very impressed that both the Wanded water and the bentonite clay worked so well together 💗

Another hit in our Gluten-free journey. We love these! I really hate mixing gluten free flours and too many ingredients and well the confusing experimenting with gluten free recipes. But this is the same pancake recipe I have always used for years! This flour worked great for us!

1 egg (or egg Replacement for 1 egg)
1 cup of all purpose flour or 1 and 1/2 cup measure for measure gluten free flour (we like King Arthur)
1 Tbsp Sugar or sugar alternative
1/4 Tsp Sea Salt
3/4 cup of cow's milk or plant based milk
2 Tbsp butter or oil

We cook these in coconut oil. They came out delicious!
Gluten free flour I have found you need more to absorb the milk.
We topped these with real Maine maple syrup! Mm so good!

Some of my garden totes and garden beds. Been doing yard work the past few days. My legs are sore as if I have exercising and doing squats. Actually yes that is what yardwork is when picking up all the sticks and branches off the ground from the winter winds lol. Eventually there will be raking the yard clean and also refilling some of the garden beds with more organic matter like leaves, compost and soil. Yes soil is eaten by organisms and worms. Because what soil is made of is leaves, sticks, and other organic matter, even dead bugs. So each year the soil in my above ground garden beds drop because the matter is consumed by all the critters and micro organisms. Each year I must build up the soil and and in a way, feed the micro organisms. When worms p**p, they leave nutritious worm casings which plants love. Winter rest is over and if it's warm enough I am out there playing in my garden. Some of the garden beds are cleaned out already and I am seeing surprise onion greens as well as some arugula coming up from seeds that fell from last year. About a week ago I planted a few seeds indoors, which I must do or the local squirrels will dig them up in my garden beds and eat them as a snack🙄🤪. Tiny seeds they don't bother with but peas, beans, and squash esp they love love love to eat! I had that problem the first year I moved here. And since then have grown seeds indoors to avoid that issue.

We don't spend much money on this day. We make cookies at home, we make homemade chocolates and make special meals together homemade. We value our family love, and I'm always surprised when he comes home with flowers because it is not something we do often. We celebrate love everyday but on this day we bake heart shaped cookies, and if I wasn't a mom I'd probably not bother with the cookies but my son loves these times that we can bake. I'm loved by a son and a fiance and I'm grateful for them everyday. Celebrate love everyday not just on days like today. Love is more than romance. Love is loving your family and your friends, love is even loving a complete stranger and doing acts of love towards them, holding the door, sharing food, a kind word. Love is so much more than the commercial confines that society has placed on it. Make time to love someone today. Make time everyday.

There was a farmer who grew excellent quality corn. Every year he won the award for the best corn. One year, a newspaper reporter interviewed the farmer, after learning he freely shared his seed corn with his neighbors.

“How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?” the reporter asked.

“Why sir,” said the farmer, “Didn’t you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn.”

I know a lot of people may think all seeds are equal and all are perfectly good for gardening. Before my personal awakening concerning this topic, I felt the same way.

You see, I grew up with a garden as a child. My dad always had a big garden and he used whatever seeds that interested him. This was all fine of course. But there are some not so good corporations who monopolize the seeds and their DNA. Genetically modified seeds are likely to alter the ones eating them and potentially not in a good way. This can cause health problems, obesity(if you look at GMO corn syrup for example) our wheat seeds and plants have been altered to the point where they are not the same plant or grains our grandparents and ancestors ate. Wheat used to grow tall up to or above our heads. Now GMO wheat is waist high. If you have read the book “Wheat Belly” you will see how our modern day wheat causes many health problems.

Another issue we have GMO seeds is who controls the supplies. Monsanto used to own patents on GMO seeds. Which later was sold to Bayer. Monsanto has a bad reputation with a poison called Agent Orange which was sprayed on Vietnam and its people as a bioweapon and toxic pesticide. Cancer and other health problems like birth defects arose after this poison was sprayed on that country. To say the least, I do not trust these corrupt companies with the likes of seeds and our health.

GMO seeds also comes with the issue of being able to kill pests. It was bred to be resistant to toxic herbicides such as Roundup. Also known to cause cancer. If bugs won’t eat the food or if it kills other critters we can be sure long time consumption will not serve us in the long run.

Organic is the lable to show plants were grown with out toxic herbicides or sprays. There are ways to protect your plants naturally with out spraying poison pesticides onto them. One way is by using natural pesticides. Also you can use plant covers to protect from pests who chew leaves and lay eggs. Another way is by using tulle, which is the cheaper alternative.

You might say well what about how GMOs were created to feed the world? Well there is that. But big money controls the food supply. If your corn cross pollinated with theirs they could take you to court. The seeds you buy that are gmo free, often won’t produce fruit. Its a very frustrating thing to spend a good part of your year trying to grow a crop in order to feed yourself and have it not even flower or fruit because it was rendered sterile and infertile by GMOs.

By only using GMO free I can save my seeds. I know my seeds will always grow food even after many generations and seasons of seed saving. In this way our seeds become heirlooms. They are tried and true and we know we can trust it to grow as it should.

A lot of people express contempt or discust over how expensive it is to buy organic food or seeds. But if you practice seed saving, it brings you returns far more than the cost of GMO seeds. Instead of spending a lot of money at the grocery store, you can grow your own. This is true seed soverinity and gives the power back to the people. Power back to our health and power back to YOU.

I hope that I was able to effectively explain my stance on this topic. I would love to hear you thoughts as well. Please comment below and let me know what you think!

With the egg shortage and rising inflation prices, rising egg layer feed rising, being able to afford to raise chickens and to buy eggs is becoming harder and harder. Eggs always were the cheapest and most affordable protein out there. How do you feel about it? Intentional shortages? Or not? Do you feel "they"(powers that be) are handling it properly?

Wildcrafting pine needles which I found fallen from the pines above. We use these pine needles as a source of vitamin C, to both prevent and treat the cold and flu. Such a wonderful medicine and we love being able to survive off the land any chance we can!

Do you ever feel like you get the rug ripped out from under you. Do you ever feel like a seed that been buried? It is so dark it feels miserable and endless. You long for the light. Many days go by maybe a whole month. When finally you break forth through the surface. New growth has occurred but your roots and full body development had to happen before you could emerge strong and ready for life anew. You grow and bask in the light and warmth. You are watered daily and spoken to lovingly by your carer. You grow so big you start to feel cramped but you don't want it to change, all the warmth and light.
Suddenly one day you are jostled and abruptly pulled out of your pot. You feel air on your roots for the first time in your life. You are hanging in the hair for just a brief moment. You feel fear, rage and completely ungrounded. But then you notice you are surrounded by moist fertile soil. You feel you are floating in unfamiliar territory. You feel uncomfortable, small and out of control once again.
Life continues on and you are getting bathed in the glorious warmth of sunlight. Drenched in water and organic fertilizer. You feel your roots stretching outwards reaching for the water and nutrients that flood you daily. Soon you feel ready to blossom. And bloom and blossom you do. The bees come and socialize at your flowers while pollinating and helping you to reproduce. You put all your energy into those babies that are growing now. And as they grow you hope they bless everyone and everything they come in contact with. Knowing that each seed within will replicate and continue your family line. You feel so much pride and happiness. Your energy and love will soon be able to go out into the world and help another soul.
This is the true meaning of life. Sharing and loving. What we put into the world, whether its our passions, children or loving others, this is where we sow our seeds. And the cycle starts all over again. But you smile knowing that it will be OK because growth is never easy, change is often very difficult but the end results is a life well lived. A life where you pass it on to continue what was started and will continue for al of time.
Times may be hard but this story reminds us that we are like a seed and a plant. To remember to stay strong and to persevere no matter what. Our seeds are important and they will thrive if you give it enough light, warmth and water. Stay strong friends. Your passions will change the world.
