Are you ever heartbroken when a book is done? Like, you couldn’t stop reading it because it was soooooo dang good… and then you’re at the end, wishing you’d been able to read it slower. Staying with the characters for more days.

The galentine’s day tea party filled my heart with community and joy.

I’m also exhausted, and can’t wait to share more with you, but wanted to give you a glimpse and say thank you to everyone that showed up.

• A dragon boat team of breast cancer survivors on Shortt’s Lake

• We are mothers, wives, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, and your friends. With one in eight women in Canada diagnosed with Breast Cancer in their lifetime, it’s a disease that affects us all.

• We are founded on principles of participation and inclusiveness. The competitive outcome is secondary. We are winners simply by being here and able to paddle.

• We have grown stronger as individuals and as a Team. We began as strangers connected only through a common disease and grew to be friends and a support network for each other, our families, and the wider community.

Books and tea are perfect when you need a bit of coziness in an escape. My top three books I read in January, paired with tea I loved during January:

When the World Fell Silent by and Cream Earl Grey by poured into my antique Aynsley teacup with the Clipper ship and sea painted in its bowl.
📚 So many emotions with this book set during the Halifax Explosion of 1917. I was completely captivated and loved it so much I recommended it for our book club read - they said yes! Although the book didn’t take the turns I expected, I loved it so much (in a heartbreaking way).
🫖 Throughout the book they often reached for tea as a comfort, as did I, with Cream Earl Grey by Monarch

The Bell in the Fog by and LaLaLaLavender Cream Earl Grey by was the absolute perfect pairing.
📚 Lavender House was the first book in this series, and I devoured it. The same for this one. I couldn’t put it down, the storytelling was amazing, I felt like I was right there and could feel the fear, love, anxiety, all of it. We picked up this book from a local shop and it has a lovely home on our rainbow shelf in our living room.
🫖 LaLaLaLavendar Cream Earl Grey is not for the faint of heart. It’s for true lavender lovers, and if you are, you will devour this tea just like this book. It’s half lavender, so I can easily have it as a late afternoon, early evening tea without any impact on my sleep. This tea blend was created by Sarah aka The Tea Girl because I was always requesting “more lavender” in teas ;)

📚 This is why I love being part of a book club. I wouldn’t normally reach for a book like this, but it was so great! I loved the way the story opened up and appreciated that there was a q***r couple within the group of characters.
🫖 Just like Deltangam by Tea Thoughts, creating a space for togetherness, even if you’re ‘longing for home’. Deltangam is a wonderful black tea with bergamot, rose, and cinnamon and it’s so welcoming and cozy.

Where’s all my vintage utensil lovers at?

Ok, I have to admit, I’m one of those peeps that has favourite utensils.

🥄 that odd little baby spoon?
Yep, you can’t use that. I need it for my ice cream.

🍴 that big fork that has a wide handle?
Oh, feel free, I would never eat with that.

Add in the love of vintage and tea things… and in walks the vintage lemon fork (this was a piece I was pining over, and was incredibly grateful to receive it as a gift one year - thank you Anne & Jeff)!

I love how elegant it feels in the hand, how smooth it is.

It feels like just yesterday we wrapped up vlogmas 2024 (thanks for everyone that followed along on YouTube with us). We had a lovely Christmas and restful Boxing Day and have been under the weather since.

Thankful for the ability to rest, grocery delivery, and a cozy home.

Looking back over some photos and spotted this stacked teacup photo. 5 beautiful cups to celebrate 5 amazing women in my life.

Last year I completely fell back in love with books. I challenged myself to finish 24 books in 2023… and I blew past it and managed 123!!

I’m in two book clubs (one is part of the membership), read my every night as part of my ‘good sleep hygiene’, and love borrowing books (both audio and ebooks) through .app 📚

We’re starting to feel a bit better. Watched Bettlejuice Beetlejuice this afternoon and I loved it! I adored these season first one, so was nervous about the second, but was so happy.
