Huge thanks to the cast and crew of ‘I Will Bury You’ season 2 for sharing their experience shooting at the Backlot and working with WFW.
Written and directed by Ravi Steve Khajuria, ‘I Will Bury You’ is a Canadian dark comedy series that follows two brothers as they attempt to carry out their mother’s final wishes by scattering her ashes in the places she loved… if they can only figure out where that might be. Dealing with issues of grief, loss, and sibling rivalry, this genre defying series mixes comedy, drama, and hilarious stupidity into a single package.
Along with providing the Backlot, WFW supported this production with lighting, grip and power, camera and locations equipment.

“People are always fighting for that sunset shot or that sunrise shot that only ever lasts a few minutes, but it can last forever in a virtual environment.” – Nathalie Boltt, DGC Director
On June 3 and 4, eight Directors from across Canada came together and each were given a small project to work on in a virtual production environment. The Directors worked alongside four Directors of Photography to bring their projects to life as they will eventually be turned into a micro short.
WFW proudly sponsored this initiative by providing camera, specialty and location equipment, as well as lighting, grip and power.
This initiative was hosted at VPHouse and was made possible by the Directors Guild of Canada and Directors Guild of Canada BC District Council, Cinematographers Guild Local 669, Creative BC, UBCP/ACTRA, CMPA-BC and Pacificwest Special Effects Ltd.

Congratulations to Sarah Polley and the entire cast and crew on the Oscar nomination for Women Talking. “Women Talking” is a film based on the 2018 novel by Miriam Toews of the same name.
Like the novel, the film begins after the perpetrators have been arrested and the remaining men have left to post bail and retrieve them. But Polley resists the impulse to depict the most obviously dramatic scenes. She doesn’t show, for instance, the men who crash the meeting, or the two boys who threaten to expose the women’s plans. Instead, her film focuses squarely on the women’s discussion over whether they should stay and fight, or pack up and leave the only home they’ve ever known.
WFW proudly supported this film with Specialty and LES equipment.

Created by Winnifred Jong and produced by Trinni Franke, TOKENS is a tongue-in-cheek comedy about the actors who find themselves randomly sent to productions desperate to hit their diversity quotas. Think Uber for actors.
Set in the world of actors cast by productions desperate to hit their diversity quotas, Season 2 of TOKENS pivots from the comedic overuse of On Call Casting, the democratic Uber-ization of diverse representation in Season 1, to a comedy about the hunger-gaming of casting and the need to stay ahead of the trend. Sammie Pang (Connie Wang), in her quest to find a meaningful role, quits On Call Casting and lands a Hollywood agent and, seemingly, the role of a lifetime. She soon realizes being on top isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. Season 2 moves the idea of inclusion in front of the camera to the need for authenticity behind the camera.
TOKENS Season 2 is now airing on Roku.
