For those who know Terry Tompkins, you know that he is the life of the party. And that party lasted nearly 20 years as Terry co-founded Eggplant LF and most recently, Pop Sound.

We are sad to say that Terry has retired from Pop Sound. We will miss him dearly but cherish the years we’ve worked together. We are indebted to him for his ability to connect with clients through his smile, wit and endless charm. We will continue carrying on the Pop Sound legacy by enacting his sense of kindness and consideration for clients and coworkers alike. We wish nothing but the best for Terry & Lisa in all your future endeavours.

Cue moment - Work it Out Wombats! 🎵

Writing for kids ages 3 - 6 usually means pianos, xylophones, marimbas, sometimes a ukulele and some light drum kit percussion. But Work it Out Wombats! took the instrumentation palette up a notch by wanting our composers to use home made noises.
In this fun cue you’ll hear beatboxing, quirky vocal embellishments and overall just a light and upbeat energy throughout the whole thing!

The playful trio will demonstrate computational thinking for preschoolers, a way of thinking that enables them to solve problems, express themselves, and accomplish tasks using the practices, processes and ideas at the core of computer science.

Pop Sound Inc. turns 2 today! 🎉

Two years ago, our partners & started a new company and since then we've had the pleasure of growing so much bigger and working on so many fantastic projects.

This year alone, we hired 4 new talented musicians, we've had renewals of wonderful shows such as Dino Ranch, Molly of Denali, CBC: The National, Meteo Heroes, and Princess Doremi. And new fantastic projects airing such as Daniel Spellbound, Big Tree City, Obsessed to Death and 2 new upcoming shows: Work it out Wombats and Dylan.

A big thank you to our friends and clients from all over the world for continuing to work with us and making wonderful music together!

We're so thrilled to welcome 2 new & talented engineers to our Pop Sound team!

𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗰𝗵
Julie Reich is a Sound Designer, Audio Engineer & Audio Editor with a background in music and a Post-Grad Degree from George Brown College in Sound Design & Production for TV, Film and Video Games.

She completed an internship with Eggplant Picture and Sound working on Feature Films, Television Programs, and Commercials. Immediately following, she joined the Engineering team at TA2 Sound and Music where she worked on TV and Radio Commercials and recorded many Audio Books for Penguin.
As Lead Sound Designer, her team for Ghosts of Camp Picton was nominated for an Innovation Award by the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario. She has contributed Sound Design and Scores that showcased in Toronto International Women’s Festival, Toronto Indie Shorts Festival, Emerging Artists Film Festival, and the XP Game Developer Summit.

Julie is passionate about working in TV, Film & Video Games, perfecting her craft and bringing her musical and technical skills to support and enhance the narrative of diverse long-form and short-form projects with music & sound.

𝗝𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗸𝗶𝗻𝘀
Music was always a part of Jody Tompkins' life. Starting on the drums at the age of 6, Jody was quickly enamoured by the Pop Punk music that was coming out at the time.
With Jody's music taste constantly evolving throughout his adolescence, Jody quickly realized it was what he wanted to do with his life.

Jody went on to start his own studio business as an engineer working out of the B room at Joao Carvalho Mastering. Using this space to help foster the Toronto Hip Hop scene, from there it quickly became the spot to do your record. Having been on the technical side, Jody wanted to get into more of the creative so he then moved into production and worked with Francesco Yates to release his single Come Over on Warner Records, as well as Maggie Szabo and her record Sail Away.

Now working with Pop Sound Inc., Jody will continue progressing & writing, producing & mixing high quality music.

We're so excited to add a new composer to our Pop Sound team, Qattani Legroulx!

Qattani is a French-Canadian and Caribbean artist based in Toronto who is approaching his love for music from all angles by being an avid music teacher, composer, and alternative RnB artist.

He used his skills as a multi-instrumentalist to play in pop, funk, and indie rock bands while simultaneously getting a music degree at the University of Toronto.

He looks forward to exploring further through creating tv and film music!

And we look forward to hearing the great music he'll be writing on upcoming productions!

Set in a fantastical animal world, the series stars a trio of spirited and creative marsupials who share a treehouse apartment with their grandmother.

Stories highlight concepts from computer science, such as sequencing and debugging, to show preschoolers how computational thinking can help them solve problems, express themselves and perform tasks.

João Thiré is a sound designer, sound editor, music composer, drummer, and Latin Grammy-winning recording & mixing engineer originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, now based in Toronto, Canada.

started as a musician and transitioned to audio engineering while recording and producing his own bands. More recently, he entered the audiovisual industry bringing his musical and technical backgrounds to create immersive and outstanding soundscapes for film and television.

Pop Sound has had the pleasure of being brought on board to mix & master the beautiful short film Something Terrible Happened To Joey!

Narrated by Rosie Perez, this short film is about a boy that experiences trauma at a young age and how he navigates through life whilst carrying the burden.

STHTJ just got accepted to its first film festival by Festival Mental. A festival making their mission to fight illiteracy about mental health. Their platform chooses pieces that combat the stigma and shame and lack of public & general information regarding mental health.

Composed by one of our own, Julia Vasiliev, we are excited to share this project!

We at Pop Sound are happy to provide our expertise & experience on any and all parts of the creative process, from writing on creative briefs, composing underscore, theme songs, to mixing & mastering films.
