The INNER CITY / DETROIT CONNECTION.

Solid Garage 24 Year Party w/ Inner City Live at Revival Bar

We are so looking forward to this 24 year milestone! We started Solid Garage with a passion of sharing our love for the music with everyone! One of our major influences was the sound and music created in DETROIT. In the late 80's and early 90's, we went on numerous trips to Detroit, where we met a lot of today's music giants who were also starting their own journey in music. (Carl Craig, Moodymann, Theo Parrish, the late Mike Huckaby to name a few).

One individual, Chez Damier, who we met while Djing alongside Kai Alce at Detroit's Legendary nightclub, The Music Institute, connected us to some of the main players, including Inner City's Kevin Saunderson, where he was working as A&R for KMS Records.
During that same time, DJ Yogi's brother D'Pac was also starting out producing music and one thing led to another and he was releasing his first ever production using KMS studios (where Inner City's albums was also produced). This connection led to working on projects with Toronto's Abacus and Chicago's Ron Trent who was also using the same studio to produce music for Prescription Records. Here is one song that originally came out before it got the Chez N Trent Treatment.
