My latest single ‘Ferns’ is out now. 🌿
• Sitting in my back garden with a notebook on a lovely, lucky morning. My friend had just told me about what her grandmother called Siberian summer days (warm in the sun and cold in the shade), and then I found myself in one. I felt in awe of the trees and wanted to learn their strength, for all of the things I needed it for.
• This bass line is the first thing I ever played on my bass ukulele. This song is also one of the first things I made with my new sequencer, which allows me to make beats in a whole new way.
• I have a hard time making songs that are quiet. It can feel like going out without my clothes on. And this one posed the double challenge of wanting to be quiet and also wanting beats. In the end it made itself into a song like none other that I’ve ever made in terms of texture and pace.
