How the Estonian community celebrates Christmas in Toronto.
Rahvajõulupuu brought together so many wonderful community members. 💚 As tradition goes, there was singing, dancing, Estonian food, crafts and lots of laughter. Thank you, Estonian Foundation of Canada - Eesti Sihtkapital Kanadas for putting together this incredible celebration, year after year!
Nii mõnus on kogukonnaga koos pühi tähistada. Aitäh kõigile, kellega saime head sõna jagada. Järgmisel aastal jälle!
How Estonian-Canadians are preparing for tantsupidu, the Estonian Dance Festival 2025
From 1500 dancers in 1934 to over 11 000 dancers in 2019, the Estonian Dance Celebration aka tantsupidu is one of those history books events. Mesmerizing patterns formed by thousands of folk dancers young and senior are a sight to see. And Toronto Estonians are hard at work to participate in the next Laulu- ja tantsupidu in 2025, held in Tallinn, Estonia from July 3-6.
TERR Kungla has held the tradition of folk dance alive in Canada and are continuing on the mission to represent diaspora Estonians at the laulu- and tantsupidu.
If you are looking to join a dance troupe, choir, a book club or any other Estonian-Canadian troupe, we have a one-stop resource for you on https://eestielu.ca/organizations/
Who to call, how to join - we've got it all covered.
Estonians didn't stop at Skype, now we have the most unicorns per capita. 🦄✅ Follow us for more interesting facts about the small yet mighty country that is Estonia!

From percussive singing to dolphins with Mart Avi
Singer, songwriter, and soundscape builder Mart Avi is bound to turn your head when you first hear his music. Even through the sounds alone, you can tell he has a very physical approach to music, including an almost percussive style of singing. And there are an abundance of stories to dig into lyrically.
Before he hits the stage at 2025’s Estonian Music Week festival, hear him speak on the latest episode of EstoCast, including points about:
🧠 How the art he saw when performing during the Venice Biennale infiltrated his subconscious
🦕 Why his upbringing in a newly re-independent Estonia makes him feel “Jurassic”
🌴How the seaside city of Ubatuba, Brazil impacted his and Ajukaja’s new album
🎙️ and much more!
