MAZE follows a young woman, Little Girl, who awakens in a location unbeknownst to her, an empty stage with only a bed and spotlight. A mysterious voice from above reveals that she is in a maze and that she must complete a set of tests before time runs out to escape. Little Girl comes to discover the maze does not follow the natural laws of time when the fabric of her reality and past begin to crumble and intertwine. Production: MAZE

Synopsis:
MAZE follows a young woman, Little Girl, who awakens in a location unbeknownst to her, an empty stage with only a bed and spotlight. A mysterious voice from above reveals that she is in a maze and that she must complete a set of tests before time runs out to escape. Little Girl comes to discover the maze does not follow the natural laws of time when the fabric of her reality and past begin to crumble and intertwine. She begins to wonder whether the mirages of her family are warped by the maze or by her mind; a test she does not solve until she learns to accept all parts of herself. MAZE is a story about human transitions: child to adult, continent to continent, and life to death. MAZE incorporates aspects of movement, light, and sound to realize the mind of Little Girl.

MAZE is a sci-fi Hungarian immigrant story that uses the time-warp nature of the maze as a metaphor for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The story is based on the life of the playwright’s Grandmother.
