My debut album ‘No Never Alone’ turns 20 years old this month. When I set out to make this album I thought I had a few songs in me. I knew no musicians. I quit University. I tended bar and hung out in bars, trying to meet musicians. How does one record an album? I had no clue. I had one supporter in a kind producer and jazz saxophonist named Glen Salley. We applied for a Factor demo grant and got it. It was for $2,000. Glen said, ‘How about you give me the 2k and we’ll make a record together.’ And we did.

This album opened the doors to a new world for me. A world in which I’ve met people and have seen places I wouldn’t have otherwise. Thanks to Julian Mash, Shady Lane Records, Six Shooter Records and Outside Music for having me a part of the your respective families, the promoters and festival organizers who have welcomed me into your cities and towns throughout the years, and to the outstanding musicians I’ve played with, toured with, and continue to grow alongside. You’re always the best company.
