What a full circle moment and honour it was to work with last month 🥹

Back in 2022, we were a BMO For Women grant recipient, winning $15,000 in addition to network capital for our business. So being able to shoot this year’s grant recipient summit for them was so special.

We wish we could’ve had a summit and connect with other grant recipients in our cohort, but unfortunately the panorama was still in full force.

BMO is the only bank-owned recognition program for women in North America, and their Celebrating Women program provides grant funding directly to women entrepreneurs like US!

That’s why we choose to empower other women and BIPOC by bringing them to the DP fam. Our team comes in all different shapes, ethnicities, sizes, colours, abilities and experiences.

Externally, we are committed to saving small businesses time by producing high quality content for marketing purposes in a way that aligns with your business goals. But internally, we want to give other women and women-of-colour the opportunity to upgrade their skills in the media production field and have a say in forming corporate culture and inclusive content marketing strategies.

The goal is to raise enough funds to sponsor a year’s worth of period products for 8 girls in Toronto.

1 in 7 Canadian girls have either left school early or missed school entirely because they did not have access to the period products they needed (report from ).

And the rising cost of period products can be a financial burden and create a barrier to access for homeless, low-income, and marginalized people.

I was fake interviewing myself for the future documentary on my life like a completely normal person...

And it got me thinking, to what/who do I owe for where I am in my business today?

And after Gayle King or Couric asks me, I would say this:

My community: Networking groups like in the Streets, Make Lemonade, and Women Who Freelance helped a lot in the early stages of Productions. And our online community is also SUPER supportive. I’ve met so many amazing people just through scrolling on our Instagram and LinkedIn.

My therapists: I’m now going nine years strong in therapy for anxiety disorder. Of course, I originally sought help for personal issues, but as an entrepreneur, a lot of my personal issues tend to leak into my business too. It’s hard to separate the two, especially in the beginning years. So these professionals really helped me to tackle things from difficult clients to money mindset to leadership.

All the different organizations that awarded grants to my business: A million thank yous to Bizstart, BITS, , Branded, of Toronto and CDAP. I bootstrapped this business and I appreciate anyone who believed in me, my skillset and my vision.

My friends: My oldest friends go back to high school and have come in so handy when I needed an extra hand on set, a test model, or a shoulder to cry on. Love you guys.

My team: We currently have five extremely talented women on the DP squad and I don’t know where I would be without them. They truly treat this business as if it were their own.
