Another fun fact:

“Somebody to Love” by Jefferson Airplane and many other psychedelic rock songs were initially considered too “unconventional” for mainstream waves

Thank God someone changed that 🏴‍☠️🤘🏽

On March 28, 1964, Radio Caroline embarked on its maiden voyage, broadcasting freedom and fresh sounds into the lives of millions.

This pioneering endeavour began when Ronan O’Rahilly, frustrated by the restrictive grip of established media, launched the station from a ship, the MV Caroline.

His actions circumvented the conventions and restrictions of the time, creating not just a platform for rock ‘n’ roll but a clarion call for freedom of expression, heralding a new era in broadcast media.

Radio Caroline quickly became synonymous with innovation, breaking new artists and songs that other stations wouldn’t touch.

Its profound impact on the music industry resonated through generations, influencing musicians and listeners alike and sparking a cultural revolution that extended far beyond its airwaves.

For our studio, the legacy of Radio Caroline is more than a historical footnote; it’s a foundational pillar of our ethos.

The station’s trailblazing spirit in confronting norms and pioneering change mirrors our commitment to pushing boundaries in sound and storytelling.

We honour this legacy annually, celebrating the day Radio Caroline first set sail, reflecting on the monumental journey and the lessons it imparted.

This celebration is not just about reminiscing; it’s about integrating the innovative spirit of Radio Caroline into our daily work.

It guides our projects, infuses our creative processes, and reinforces our mission to produce work that not only tells stories but also evokes deep emotional responses.

We are honoured to carry on the name and ethos of Radio Caroline, ensuring that its spirit continues to inspire and influence the broader landscape of sound production and broadcasting.

Through our work, we strive to keep the legacy of Radio Caroline alive, resonating with every note we play and every story we tell, shaping powerful narratives for today and generations to come.

Gina Sorell - Business Development-Film, TV and Animation

Gina loves a good story—writing, telling, and hearing them. Rarely without a full thermos of coffee and a good soundtrack, she doesn’t play an instrument but will toot a horn for any of her Pirates🏴‍☠️

Heading up business development in Pirate’s Film, TV and Animation division, Gina will pitch Pirate’s talents across the globe—or elevator, for that matter.

Aaron Key - Head of Film and Television

Although his official title is Head of Film, TV and Animation, Aaron’s role can best be described as a herder of cats🐈‍⬛🐈

A family man and self-professed baseball nerd, he has a penchant for singing Led Zeppelin at Karaoke nights. He dreams of the day he can throw the first pitch while singing Heartbreaker at a Jay’s game.
