DIYing to save money gets old really fast. 👇For as long as I can remember and even moreso since the pandemic, I’ve tackled a lot of things on my own instead of buying it or paying someone to do it.• Car/ house maintenance• Woodworking• Baking my own bread, making my own pasta, pizza, etc.• Cooking instead of eating out at restaurants• Making and kegging my own beer“But Steve, these seem like amazing qualities, your wife must be one lucky lady!”She is! I made it to 30 days!! Omg ⬇️Who woulda thought that this substitute teacher would be busting out the moves, making silly reels and lip syncing for dayzzz. Why did I get into Digital Marketing?As a substitute teacher, my earnings are capped - there are no over-time shifts. I only get paid for the days I get called in and there are only 194 days in a school year. This becomes problematic when you have fixed, albeit rising, expenses and you aren’t getting called into work aka not getting paid. I needed to do something about this ASAP.1) I wanted a way to earn extra income that didn’t involve me going out and getting a part-time job. That would also involve me being away from home which wasn’t ideal either.2) I was guilty of scrolling on my phone so I wanted a way to monetize that! Taking surveys for cash just wasn’t cutting it.3) I wanted a side gig that beginner friendly, not time-consuming and that I could do at my own pace while continuing to teach. I had no desire to retire from teaching but I mean anything could happen right??4) It had to have a low startup cost/barrier to entry so spending thousands on an affiliate marketing program or buying inventory was out of the question.5) I wanted somethwas convertible, something that could be applied to other business facets should I choose to expand some day.After much searching I ended up investing in the Learn and Earn Profits Online digital marketing course. The video modules were easy to follow, I could start and pause as necessary and if I had questions, I could ask the community of 12,554 other members in the course. Todays Lesson: Have Fun!I created this account from scratch 24 days ago and have put out 27 reels since then which to be quite honest, I’m pretty proud of. Especially since I’d never posted a reel before or even knew how to incorporate video cuts and trending audio. Now I’m singing in front of mirrors like it’s nobody’s business 😂It’s amazing how fast someone can learn a new skill and if you stick with it, it becomes a habit. I’ll be completely honest, my heart sank every time I opened my property tax and car/home insurance bill. Those expenses alone account for over 50% of my substitute teacher income.I diligently saved throughout the year by basically not spending anything on myself, religiously shopping sales at the grocery store and even selling things on FB Marketplace.I realized very quickly that this wasn’t going to be sustainable forever and that I needed to do something about it.After weeks of scrolling and watching others be successful, I took a chance and invested (what little I had) in myself.I enrolled in a beginner friendly digital marketing course, completed it at my own pace, setup a website from scratch, started a new IG account with zero followers and within a matter of days, I had my business up and running.This same course also has an MRR license which allows me to sell it as my first digital product and profit $497 every single time.To put this into perspective:-selling only 10 of these means I no longer have to worry about my property taxes-selling only 20 means all my expenses are covered for the year, plus my annual contribution to my daughters education fund, plus 6 months worth of groceries.-selling 1 course per week would mean I would almost double my teaching salary...This was way too good of an opportunity to pass on and I’m absolutely thrilled I jumped in.If you’re a teacher who’s looking for extra income or wanting to drop down to subbing, a Dad or Mom who wants to contribute more to your family’s finances, or ANYONE who absolutely dreads living paycheque to paycheque, I’m more than happy to answer any questions you have and support you along your journey. We’re all busy people and I totally get it! Most of us don’t have the luxury of dropping what we do day to day to take on a side gig, let alone think about it.Truth be told, I’m a gymnastics Dad. My 6yr old does 12 hours a week of gymnastics a week (spread over 3 days) plus swimming and other after school activities. I’m usually bouncing from school to school during the day as a substitute teacher and my wife works her full time gig.When I get a moment to myself I literally want to do nothing but then reality quickly sinks in that if I don’t go grocery shopping, unload the dishwasher or do my workouts, it ain’t gonna do it itself and things will only get worse. But if I set aside time instead of wasting it I can get it done and even get ahead of some other things. Case in point, I’m on my peloton right now as I write this!✅ I took a high quality digital marketing course over the course of a few days while lying in bed before sleep. All the modules are videos so it’s easy to start and stop when I please - the course can also be access via an app so no need to be on a computer.✅ I also built a website using the easy step-by-step instructions within the course and also set my email automations and payment systems in place.
