Last Monday, Imaginaire had a sort of Summer Black Friday sale which granted 15% off almost every item they sell. I logged in on their website and still had a Crimson Invasion booster box in my cart from a previous visit, so I decided that this would be the best time to order it.

Shortly after placing the order, I stumbled upon the rules of the sale, stating that booster boxes weren't included in the sale because they're already offered at quite a fair price (which I do agree with).

So I get a phone call Wednesday morning from them, saying they don't even actually have a sealed box and that they'd be able to offer 36 loose packs instead. I called back and said I'd happily still take that.

The packs arrived today, and honestly, I made the right decision. If you count the reverse foil Salazzle and Bewear that I got in addition to all of this, I pulled a holo or better in half of the packs I got, which is much better than the sealed box pull rate last I checked!

H/T to Imaginaire for the quality service and speedy shipping, as always! Maybe I'll just keep ordering loose packs instead of sealed boxes in the future! 🤔🤯👏🏻

Always get good pickups at the local store! (Although I DID pull the Banette from a pack of Celestial Storm. 😅)

I thought I had picked up a Guzzlord GX as well but I'm not sure. Maybe it got left in the glove box somehow. 🤔

In my good ol' fashion, it's been like 8 months since I last posted here. The Studio is looking great, near as I can tell, but what you don't see is all the stuff I still have to clean up and find a home for behind the camera.

Okay, so it's been two months since I ordered this set of Base Set 2 starters.

I've never exactly liked eBay's "Global Shipping Program", and this order was the epitome of why I try to avoid it when possible. I'm not going to get into it now, but I will definitely cover it in a video in the near future because this whole situation has sucked.

What matters now is that I have the cards, they're beautiful, and I have no anger towards the seller, it was not their fault in any way.

Tamara has given me a lot of amazing gifts over the years. This includes the one and only graded card I own, and likely ever plan to own, and probably one of my favourite WOTC promo cards ever: Birthday Pikachu.
I think what it boils down to is that my birthday is the 17th of April, and I'm one of those weird people that casually points out any combination of those numbers (4, 17, 417, 4:17, etc.) when I can. Of course, Birthday Pikachu is featured as Level 17, so right from the get-go, I wanted to have one. I've had this for almost 3 and a half years now, as Tamara gave it to me for my first birthday we got to spend together after we moved in. I don't usually care about the condition of cards I have in my WOTC collection (just look at my Base Set Venusaur), but to have a professionally graded card is definitely something special. And I'm very thankful to her for it.

I think the checklane blisters are my favourite type of Pokémon product, just from a "casual interest in the new releases" perspective. You get the pack, plus a promo card that generally has pretty good artwork, and a coin that you'll likely never use; usually for only a bit more than the price of just a pack alone. This'll be my first look at Celestial Storm first-hand, and likely the only one for a while. Should I upload here or to YouTube? I'm not too sure right now.

WOTC Prerelease features continue on Card of the Day with the Team Rocket expansion's Dark Gyarados. I haven't looked into whether or not there is a 1st Edition one available, but like the Aerodactyl, I found this at the Fan Expo and knew it would be a great addition to my collection!

I got this 1st Edition Prerelease Aerodactyl from a vendor at the Vancouver Fan Expo back in 2016. It's in great shape, and the Prerelease stamp honestly adds a whole new layer to wonderful this card looks already.

A little behind on Card of the Day, but I'm working on getting in the habit. Today features two of the three final Johto starter evolutions in Feraligatr and Typhlosion, 4 and 18/111 respectively from Neo Genesis. It does seem appropriate though as this Feraligatr card has long been one of my personal favourites from the Neo era, and Typhlosion is my favourite of the trio as a whole.
