Wayward Troubadours

Wayward Troubadours Featured performers have included poets Suzannah Showler, Jeff Latosik, Paul Vermeersch and singer, songwriter & producer Matt Maaskant.

Wayward Troubadours is the Toronto-based reading and performance series that melds traditional and contemporary visions of the troubadour: the travelling poet, scribe, singer, songwriter, the wandering scholar. At each event, featured performers take to the stage reading published and unpublished works, performing new and established pieces for an intimate audience that is welcome to join in the r

evelry at the open mic. Limited to 8 readers, the open mic session has one rule: all performers & readers must perform at least one piece, strictly from memory and one by another artist (the two requirements may be satisfied through the performance of a single piece).

A big thank you to David Seymour and Stevie Howell for reading last night; they were wonderful, and adapted to a small, spirited crew that sat at a table and lobbed poems back and forth. It was grand!

Though it must be said that a certain someone (he said, pointing to a mirror) needs to up his PR game a bit. Ahem!

Again, thanks to all who came to Balluchon, and then wandered on to the InterSteer for a brew or two. Cheers!

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to say thank you to the wonderful readers and performers from Monday evening's WT event: David Clink, Tim Prior, and Eric Chisholm, and thanks to all who came out to see and hear them. Tim's reading was lush and verdant, David's over-the-top and hilarious, and Eric premiered a fabulous re-working of Tom Waits' "Hang Down Your Head". Wonderful, all around.
Looking forward to January's event, on the 21st. Happy Holidays to all from WT. :)

Wayward Troubadours is reaching beyond the edges of Parkdale and environs for the next Wayward Troubadours reading on Monday, December 17th, at Balluchon Raymond Inc. It will feature poet David Clink who lives and breathes in North York, ON, and his guest, Tim Prior, with musical guest TBA. Come on out, y'all, and hear troubadours stand and deliver without mic, and leaning on memory alone, or nearly! Doors open at 7:30, and it's always PWYC for all and sundry involved.
