Wondering what the best length is for your Instagram captions?⁠ 🧐

Did you know that your caption, or lack thereof, can make or break your content and the messaging you're trying to convey?⁠

"In its simplest form, a good Instagram caption is one that provides context, adds personality, and inspires your followers to take action." - ⁠

Let your caption expand on the story and message you're trying to deliver in the post itself. A strong caption can boost your engagement, especially with an attention-grabbing headline and a solid call-to-action!⁠ 💯

The major key to optimizing your IG profile is using the relevant keywords, hashtags, and geotagging. The key to optimizing your content and branding is providing personalized valuable information - and your captions help you do so.⁠

So the answer is this - it doesn't matter if your captions are short or long, as long as the message is clear, relevant, and valuable! Just make sure you include a caption...PLEASE! So many businesses "fumble the bag" by leaving their captions blank or just including irrelevant information.⁠

Creating a dope product or service is no longer just enough. Most consumers expect transparency and a more human approach to branding from companies they deal with.

Here’s an Instagram Algorithm hack: the algorithm favours accounts who keep their followers on the app longer with their engaging content that was created using the features on the app itself! ✨

So this means that if you use the IG features to create your content and have your audience consistently engaged (liking, commenting, sharing, saving) with your page long enough, your content and account gets rewarded by an increase in discoverability! 💯

✨Educational content - share knowledge about your product/service, your industry, an industry trend or news, etc.
✨Engagement content - content that yields engagement like more likes, comments, saves, shares, etc. Can be an entertaining post or just you using a strong call-to-action that encourages interaction.
✨Inspirational content - share your story, a quote, or anything that inspires your audience to want to do better. People love these on social media!
✨Promotional content - an occasional post here and there to let your audience know what you do and how to get access to your product or service. Promote your self and your brand but be cautious to not be too sales-y all the time. Your aim on social media should be to create content around what you offer.

QUESTION; How long can you expect to get the most engagement on your content in social media? 🧐

ANSWER: It all depends on the quality of content being posted, the platform used, and the times the content is being posted.

When you post a high quality post at an optimized time and on the right platform where you can reach most of your audience, then the lifespan is an average of the times posted in the slides above.

So how do you extend the lifespan of your post past the average lifespan?

1. Keep track of your insights and post most of your audience is active online.
2. Repurpose your posts - share to stories, recreate as a reel, video, carousel, or even cross post on other platforms.
3. Strategically respond to comments - pace your responses.
4. Engage Engage Engage - make sure you’re engaging with both your following and followers, and also outbound via relevant hashtags!

If you're a retailer with a brick and mortar location (physical location), you should be focusing on using social media as a tool to not only increase online sales but boost in-store traffic!

Stop using social media only as a catalogue of your products, showcasing only the items your carry.

1. Share your location: Let customers know you're local and where to find you.

2. Use videos and pictures to show your store layout, design (both interior and exterior).

3. Use videos to highlight your employees, customer service team, and team culture.

4. Talk about your returns/exchanges policy, in-store pickup options, etc.

5. Connect with your current, loyal customers. Ask for and use user-generated content. Share pictures of customers holding their purchased products in-store, create in-store incentives, etc.

When used effectively, your social media marketing strategy can help draw customers to your store and increase your in-store traffic!

Motherhood is very much like running a business. Here’s what I’ve learned so far:

1. BE FLEXIBLE ABOUT STRATEGIES: you can have a whole plan written out and someone or something (Instagram or baby) will switch up on you and have you right back in the beginning.

2. BE PATIENT: The strategies you implement will not always yield results immediately. Consistency and repetition are important when building your online brand or raising a baby.

3. CONTINUOUS LEARNING: I do not know everything. The last year and half has really shown me how important it is to stay on top of research and development when running this business, managing accounts across different industries, and raising a baby.
