Looks like I've earned the title of "official outsider" in the family after our wedding. My wife and I made only one rule: our wedding has to be a child-free event. We mentioned it on the invites, and I even had a direct talk with my brother about it.

Fast forward to the wedding. My brother showed up late but that's not the worst thing. He brought ALL FOUR OF HIS KIDS. I was so done. So yeah, I asked him to get the hell out of my wedding.

MY PARENTS STARTED CHARGING ME RENT BECAUSE I HAD DECORATED MY ROOM

My parents have always been kinda unfair to me. I'm the older daughter, and for some reason, that meant getting the basement as my room while my younger brother got this huge, bright room upstairs. He got everything brand new — furniture, decorations, all of it. I got whatever leftover junk they could find in the garage. It hurt, you know?

But I wasn't just gonna sit in a cave. I started saving up from my after-school job and got into DIY. My aunt was a huge help — she gave me tips and even chipped in here and there. I painted the walls, hung up LED lights, and transformed the basement into a place I actually loved. It felt like a small victory, finally having something of my own.

Then my parents came down and saw it. They took one look and decided that since I had "extra money" for decorations, I should be paying rent. Seriously? I'm still in high school! I was the groom's childhood friend, and I was overjoyed to see him finally find happiness. His bride was walking down the aisle, and everything seemed like a fairytale: the stunning white dress, the long train, the flowers... But something felt off. Her walk seemed strange. It was as if she couldn't move comfortably.

I watched more closely as the bride approached the altar. Her steps were awkward, almost unsteady. Everyone around was immersed in the joyful atmosphere, but I couldn't shake the unsettling feeling that something was wrong.
