It’s Music and Mayhem Monday! Today’s Oscar-nominated film is the classic musical from 1934 … The Gay Divorcee.
Yes, the story may not be riveting, and the dialogue, as expected from a 9+ decade old film, feels dated. However, the Cole Porter tunes and watching Astaire and Rogers glide across the screen makes this classic a staple for any film fan. What are your thoughts on The Gay Divorcee? It’s Surprise Sunday! Today’s Oscar-nominated film is the drama from 1962 … Lo**ta.
The controversial novel that was brought to the scrreen by Stanley Kubrick, feels less uncomfortable than the book does due to the wonderful direction, lighter script, and great performance by James Mason. What are your thoughts on Lo**ta? Check out my Movie Minute video review in the comments below.

It’s Spine-tingling Saturday! Today’s Oscar-nominated film is the 2005 crime/thriller … A History of Violence.
This movie is compelling and thought-provoking. With great performances by the entire cast, a well-crafted script and perfectly paced by director David Cronenberg, this is one of the best films of 2005. Check out my Movie Minute video review in the comments below.

Episode #92: A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS (1966) is now LIVE!!!

Despite being a period piece fom the 16th century, this film feels very resonant today; a story of a man who stands firm on his morals, fighting against the authoritarian rule of the monarchy. The great direction of Fred Zinnemann, the stunning visuals and wonderful score, and of course the brilliant performance of Paul Scofield, were all driving foces that led to A Man For All Seasons winning the Best Picture Oscar of 1966. Looking back almost six decades, did the Academy get it right?

Listen to this episode and find out which movie film critic Jack Ferdman chose to receive his Rewatch Oscar for 1966 as well as his deep dive into the film A Man For All Seasons.

It’s Foreign Film Friday! Today’s Oscar-nominated film is the musical/comedy from 1952 … Le Plaisir.
Max Ophüls is one of the great film directors of all time. And once again he brings his intoxicating visual style and feminist leaning storytelling to this very entertaining film. How many of you have seen Le Plaisir? Check out my Movie Minute video review in the comments below.

This was a great year for cinema. Many amazing films from around the world were eligible for the 1966 Best Picture Oscar, and the Academy went with these five nominees to battle it out. Films like Blow-Out, The Fortune Cookie, A Man and a Woman, The Professionals, and others were left on the sidelines to watch. Which film would have given the top prize to?

It’s Thoughtful Thursday! Today’s Oscar-nominated film is the dramatic comedy from 1990 … Postcards from the Edge.
With a great script by Carrie Fisher, wonderful performances from Meryl Streep, Shirley MacLaine, and the rest of the A-list cast, and steady direction from legend Mike Nichols, this film is both entertaining and poignant. Give me your thoughts on this movie. Check out my Movie Minute video review in the comments below.

It’s Wild Wednesday! Today’s Oscar-nominated film is the 1971 action/thriller … Diamonds are Forever.
This was the seventh movie in the iconic James Bond series, and Sean Connery’s final go at 007 … BEFORE coming back one last time a dozen years later (1983). What are your thoughts on this film? Check out my Movie Minute video review in the comments below.
