**Family Travel Safety Tips**

Thinking about your next family vacation? Make sure that safety is your top priority! Here are some tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip for everyone:

- **Plan ahead:** Research the destination to understand where you are visiting and learn about local customs, norms and laws. Also think about purchasing travel insurance to be prepared for any unexpected situations.

- **Stay connected:** Make sure you have a way to stay connected with the rest of your family members. Apps like WhatsApp lets you stay connected for free. Share your travel plans or itinerary with someone and make a photocopy of your passport in case it's ever lost or stolen. Leave a copy with a trusted contact at home and bring a copy with you.

- **Pack wisely:** Pack a first aid kit, medications, and any necessary documents such as passports and insurance statements. Also, make sure to pack appropriate clothes and shoes for the planned activities.

- **Be aware of the surroundings:** Always be aware of your surroundings. Keep an eye on your belongings, avoid secluded places, and stay close to your children in crowded places.

- **Teach your children about safety:** Teach your children about safety rules and emergency contacts before you leave. Make sure they know what to do if they get lost, and who they can trust to ask for help. When we visited Disney, I made temporary tattoos with my cell phone to place discretely on my kids. If they got lost (thankfully they didn't!), my number was readily there if they needed help.
