“Tubi is filling out the cast for its Lauren Graham-starring workplace comedy The Z-Suite with new guest stars.

Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords), Mark McKinney (Superstore), Dani Kind, Nadine Djoury (), Richard Waugh and Peter Keleghan have nabbed guest-starring roles. They join earlier-announced series regulars Graham, Madison Shamoun, Nico Santos, Spencer Stevenson, Anna Bezahler and Evan Marsh in the comedy shooting in Toronto.

The Tubi original is set at a boutique New York ad agency where generational divides see the established C-Suite and rising Gen Z employees clash. After a company decision spirals out of control, the agency’s reigning executives are forced out and replaced by Z-Suite employees, whose skills and patience are tested.”

One to watch: Ambition’s very own 🤩🎥🎬🍿

“Far be it from Shawn Gerrard’s collaborators and colleagues to call him emerging — but “burgeoning” would certainly fit the bill.

The Toronto-based filmmaker, 38, cut his teeth in the industry as post-production producer on shows such as TVOKids and PBS’ Odd Squad, Netflix’s The Age of Samurai and CNN’s Story of Late Night. But that steady job turned out to be a stepping stone to a fulfilling career of telling his own stories.

“With writing, I like to focus on the stories that are closest and most personal to me; things about my community, or things that I feel a little bit conflicted about,” Gerrard tells Playback Daily.

Ambition’s is BARNEY! 💜

Source: “Remember Barney? The purple dinosaur whose “I Love You” song was “Baby Shark”-level annoying before “Baby Shark” was a thing? Well, he returns to TV soon, voiced by the scene-stealing Trap actor who launched one of this summer’s funniest movie memes.

Mattel’s super-dee-duper dinosaur is coming back after 14 years in new animated series Barney’s World. The relaunched Barney will be voiced by Jonathan Langdon, who played hilariously loose-lipped merch seller Jamie in M. Night Shyamalan’s 2024 thriller. The actor became the face of a viral meme when the film’s trailer dropped, showing him explain the wildly far-fetched plot of the feds using a pop star’s concert to entrap a serial killer called the Butcher, all while unknowingly revealing the ruse to the “frickin’ nutjob” himself.

The new preschool series will see Barney go on music-filled adventures (presumably not involving any concert traps) and explore emotions with his dino pals Billy (Jonathan Tan) and Baby Bop (Bryn McAuley) and their kid companions David (Jayd Deroché), Mel (Diana Tsoy), and Vivie (Ella Paciocco). The show will feature original music and updated classics, but it’s not yet clear if that includes the infectious “I Love You” outro song haunting a new generation of parents.

Barney’s World will consist of 52 animated 11-minute episodes and premieres Monday, Oct. 14 on Max, followed by a linear premiere on Cartoon Network on Friday, Oct. 18. Select episodes will be available on YouTube, where the first episode will drop early on Friday, Oct. 11.

“DEADLINE EXCLUSIVE: Kiana Madeira (Fear Street trilogy) is making her first leap into producing as executive producer and star of Baby Love, an indie fighter drama marking the feature debut of writer-director Joseph Marconi.

“Baby Love is a very special and personal film that combined two worlds—MMA and Equine Therapy—and allowed me to tell a recovery story in fresh and unexpected ways,” Marconi told Deadline. “Working with Kiana in the lead role was miraculous; she brought a fierce and vulnerable energy to Rhiannon Mitchell that elevated the film.”

Best known for starring in Netflix’s coming-of-age drama series Trinkets, Madeira’s credits on the film side include Netflix’s horror film trilogy Fear Street and the hit After franchise of YA films, as well as such recent indie titles as Brother and Perfect Addiction.“
