Is this how you think when running your service business?
How much thought do you give these 3 letters: ROI?
Return. On. Investment.
ROI doesn't only have to relate to money, it can relate to time, energy, and anything else you consider a resource.
For every unit of resource that you put into your business, you should have a measurable and expected ROI.
What do you get back and how much of it?
Let's say you sell Service-A for $1000 and you want to grow your business by $60,000 per year.
That would mean for the entire year, you need to close 60 additional deals, which is about 5 per month.
How much money then should you put in to generate 5 additional sales per month?
The reality is that not everyone is going to buy Service-A, which means you need to speak to more than 5 people per month (Leads) if you want to close a minimum of 5.
Okay, now assume you have a 10% close rate when selling.
This means you close 5 deals of Service-A for every 50 people you speak with which also means you need to generate at least 50 additional leads per month to give yourself that chance. Otherwise, you aren't closing 5.
But how many people then need to hear about you, or check out your social media, or visit your website before they contact you (either by phone, email, or website form)?
How much traffic do you need to generate before you "convert" (Conversion Rate Optimization) a subset of them into leads?
Assume a 5% CRO rate.
If you want 50 leads per month, that means you need to generate 1000 website visitors per month.
Let's summarize this.
1. Generate 1,000 visitors to your website per month
2. With a 5% CRO rate, convert 50 of them into Leads
3. With a 10% sales closing rate, convert 5 of the 50 Leads into Customers
This generates an additional $5,000 per month, for a total increase in revenue by $60,000 per year.
Of course, this only holds true if the assumptions we made also hold true.
