For .chroma , art wasn’t always the obvious path—it was the quiet pulse beneath the surface. Growing up in a South Asian household, the pressure to pursue stability led him to a Master’s degree in Architecture. Yet, despite years immersed in design, something vital was missing.

“I felt creatively drained,” Nashid admits. It wasn’t until his 27th birthday that everything shifted. His wife and friends pooled their money to buy him an iPad, a simple gesture that reignited a dormant passion. “That gift changed the trajectory of my life.”

With Procreate as his tool, Nashid began to create. He spent a year refining his skills, strengthening his portraiture and mastering the power of color. “I posted art every single day,” he says. Then came AFTERHOURS—his breakout piece inspired by The Weeknd. “People started asking if I sold my work, so I set up an Etsy shop. The rest is history.”

Nashid’s artistic roots, however, trace back further. His mother, a lyricist and lover of music, shaped his creative instincts. “She encouraged me to take art classes as a kid,” he shares. The vivid saris of his childhood—bold colors, intricate florals—still inspire him today. “I’d love to create a piece with sari fabric as a tribute to my heritage.”

But his journey has not been without challenges. In 2021, after facing rejection from galleries hesitant to embrace digital and pop art, Nashid took matters into his own hands. He turned Toronto into his gallery, launching a self-funded campaign to display his work across bus shelters, bikeshare stations, and billboards. “It was a risk—I invested everything I had—but it paid off. To this day, people call me the ‘Bikeshare Artist.’”

Nashid’s creative process mirrors his thoughtful approach to storytelling. When working on musician-inspired portraits, he dives deep into their discography, interviews, and history. “The adornments in my art represent their stories,” he says. “Every detail matters.”

Finding Balance: The Artistic Odyssey of Arshaam  For Arshaam, music has been a central part of life since he started playing piano at age seven. By 11, he had mastered the electric guitar, but his creative drive pushed him further into producing, songwriting, and singing. At 15, his professional journey began with mainstream and R&B tracks, earning him early success. Yet, by 17, Arshaam found himself at a turning point. His evolving artistic vision no longer aligned with the style that had brought him recognition.

“It felt like something inside me was shifting,” Arshaam explains. “I wanted my music to reflect who I am and where I’m headed.”

This transformation coincided with his move to Canada at age 16, a life change that deeply influenced his sound. Immersed in a new culture, Arshaam began exploring genres like Indie Pop, Bedroom Pop, and Alternative. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Dominic Fike, Jesse Rutherford, and The Neighbourhood, he found himself crafting a style uniquely his own.

Today, Arshaam’s music bridges his Persian roots with global influences. Currently, he’s working on an indie album that blends these elements in unexpected ways. His aim is to create a sound that feels both familiar and groundbreaking.

“My album is about finding balance—between my past and present, my influences and individuality. I want it to resonate with Persian and international audiences alike,” he shares.

Arshaam’s story is a testament to growth and reinvention. As he prepares for his next chapter, he invites listeners to join him on this journey of self-discovery—one heartfelt lyric and carefully crafted melody at a time.
