We had the beautiful fall light, fun friends, and fricken cold hands, while Suz and Liam along with their crew were absolutely fantastic! I have to say, I had a blast shooting their wedding! Perhaps having one of my best friends, Ray Ray as my assistant had something to do with it, but it really was a wonderful occasion filled with charm, chuckles and lots of happy tears! Thanks for having us you guys - what a way to end our season 🍂

Shooting Abby and Ben’s beautiful wedding was sort a “coming full circle” type day. I knew Abby little bit from way back in the day when I worked at Cape Breton bible camp back when Abby was just a wee little camper. However, many years later I almost felt closer to her and her family as they were so incredibly faithful in prayer during our journey with Paul’s cancer, which we are forever thankful for 🙏🏻 . So it felt somewhat redemptive to be back behind the camera, witnessing Abby joining Ben in marriage. And what a day it was 🙌🏻☀️❤️

Love was just so evident. The love this young couple shared for one another, the love of their families, and their love for God. We’re grateful to have been a part of it and to witness the start of their new journey together !💍

Five years ago, I had the incredible opportunity of capturing Natasha and Mitch’s beautiful wedding day on the stunning Bras d’Or Lakes at the Inverary Resort on Baddeck Bay Fast forward to today, and I’m beyond thrilled to have reconnected with them, celebrating their 5th anniversary right where it all began — now with their two precious little ones by their side. 🥰

Natasha even joked (but I think she meant it 😉), that if I’m not doing photography by their 25th anniversary, she’ll pull me out of retirement to capture it — to which I say, heck yes!! 🙋🏼‍♀️

Here’s to 5 years of so much love and cherished memories, and many more to come! 🥂❤️

🎶 Meet Joe Cook, a musician with a heart for Cape Breton tunes 🎤

With a passion for storytelling and a love for the East Coast, Joe Cook is a Cape Breton singer/songwriter who loves telling stories of life in the maritimes. In the words of Joe - “Jesus in my main inspiration and subject, but I grew up on the east coast so l also love a good sea shanty or mining song.” 🌊

Joe and his beautiful wife Gemma are proud parents to five little kiddos (although not so little anymore). They love to embrace a life of simplicity while homesteading, homeschooling, and serving at Journey Church Cape Breton, where Joe shares his heart as a pastor. When he's not creating music, you can find him fishing, hunting, pouring into his community, hanging out with friends or building something with his hands! Joe is a true craftsman, and that creativity shines through his music. 🎸

The intimacy and emotion of an elopement is incredibly beautiful and unique and it’s such an honour to be a part of! Joining Rachael and Andrew’s families to witness their union in marriage was a real pleasure, oh and their two boys are just the cutest little gentlemen!

This is how excited we are to have been married for 8 years !! Happy Anniversary to my handsome sweet boy Paw 🐾

As you can probably see in these photos, we love to be corny, silly, and laugh HARD together!! These are some of the things we love and hold onto during a lot of life’s trials and tribulations. I can’t say that I always resort to these things with Paul when life get beyondddddddd difficult, however, during some of the awful crap life has thrown at us, Paul is typically always there to take me by the hand and ask me for a dance. That dance usually starts off by being slow, intimate, and him being a wonderful comforter as we sway to a cheesy but deep meaningful song. Then, things take a turn and it typically turns into a full out wild dance party in our living room showing off our corniest dance moves, jumping on the furniture and making each other laugh hysterically ! 🕺🏻🤣💃

I deeply love this man so much it’s insane. I am obviously biased but Paul’s the best guy out there. Just sayin. I can’t believe he picked me to be his wife. WOWW!!! What a gift he is. I pray hard for God to give us more years together full of health, silliness, and being kids on the dance floor ! 🤘🏻🌽🫶

Cara + Griffen, what absolute sweeties 😍

There was something extra special about Cara and Griffin’s wedding day. It wasn’t the venue, nor the reception. Not the food or the music. These things were all wonderful, sure but, they oftentimes become the focus of the day itself. What was so special about this day, was that it was all about the union, and vows that this couple spoke, and the love they share for one another.

Sprinkle in their playful youthfulness, the family’s deep bond, and absolutely perfect lighting, and well, this sure was a wonderful way to kick off our wedding season!!

“Who told you that?”

Years ago, it was brought to my attention that one of the biggest lies I have been believing my whole life, which has managed to play on repeat in my head is “you’re unworthy & unwanted”. From that belief, I formed a self perceived identity.

It flowed into our marriage. I constantly question my worth, and say to myself “Paul deserves a better, prettier, less emotional and more adventurous gal than me”. I have been questioning myself a lot lately, asking “who’s telling me that?”, because Paul certainly isn’t.

Paul has ALWAYS been the most caring man to me. He’s never once done anything to give me reason to believe he doesn’t love me, doesn’t want me, or make me feel like I wasn’t good enough. Yet, I have fear and disbelief that he does in fact think I’m not worth it. Again, “who’s telling me that?”.

Beliefs are developed over time, based on our experiences. They form roots that go down deep. At some point, “you’re not wanted or worthy” became a conditioned thought pattern from negative experiences in my past that continued unchecked for a long time, that I’m now starting to challenge.

I have never had someone love me as fiercely as Paul, and even after 9 years of being together, it still catches me off guard. However, I am on a journey to continue to believe what God and Paul say about me are in fact true. It takes time to find true breakthrough, and tear down the walls we’ve build around our hearts. But today here we are, embracing the day by day (not the month by month or year by year, just the here and now), just like Rose and Jack did during there epic titanic scene at the bow of the ship with their arms outstretched feeling alive and present with one another.

I challenge myself and YOU. When you hear a lie about yourself, try and ask a friend, your spouse, and most importantly, God “what do you say about that?” You’ll be quite surprised to most likely hear the total opposite of what you have been telling yourself. Then, the hardest part of all… to trust them in what they are saying is true.

Here’s to the continued journey of finding our worth, found in our authentic identities in God—worthy, wanted and loved.

Even when Plan A went south and the wind tested our resolve, kicking off our season with Elizabeth and Matt's engagement was such a joy! Their adventurous spirits made every frozen finger worth it, and capturing their playful love and genuine affection for one another was getting me excited for the wedding season ahead! We can't wait to witness and celebrate your marriage at one of our favorite venues in Cape Breton that is near and dear to our hearts….we’re Paul and I tied the knot! 🌾

“WE’RE NOT VIDEOGRAPHERS ANYMORE!!!”, or so I thought…

When we began to rebound from the last 3 years of injuries and battling cancer, I thought “I’m going to venture into photography and leave video behind”. That thought was based on lots of reasons. Thoughts of failure, that my body couldn’t handle video production anymore, and questions of how could I possibly re-invest that much energy and money when our future is so uncertain? When people would pray for us, they would often pray for redemption in our business, and I’d find myself saying “no don’t pray for that, I can’t do that anymore”. Then, when potential clients began asking for video, I quickly turned them down.

Over the past little while though, a focus of ours has become making decisions on our journey from a perspective of life and freedom, rather than fear of an uncertain future. We’ve intentionally made the over arching theme-word of our year “bravery”, with the hope of walking through the doors that present themselves in our lives, rather than cowering from them in fear.

What does this look like for us? Well, over the next little while, it’ll include sharing some of our story. What it’s looked like to walk our road, and share some perspective of struggle and joy throughout the process. We’ll also look at the things we’re passionate about like how we invest in our marriage, and healthily living through natural, whole products.

It also looks like venturing back into video production🤯. As we’ve begun to create once again, this door has swung wide open in front of us, so we’re going to step through it with anticipation and see what happens! Follow along and share the adventure with us, we hope to you’ll be able to connect and relate along the ride!

Yes, this is really us and not a hack. Our business page however was hacked and deleted, that's why we are here with a new one! 🙃

So hey, Im Sarah Martin! For the past 7 years, my husband Paul and I have been running Martin Media, creating content for a wide range of clients; from weddings, business ads, branding sessions, real estate, portraits and more. We fell in love being behind the camera as it allows us to capture the unique stories our community and its members have to offer!

As we shifted from a hiatus with a long battle with cancer with Paul, we decided to dial in on photography after years of video work.
