The Surrey Fire Fighters Association IAFF Local 1271 Charitable Society and 93.7 JR Country hosted 6th Annual Battle of the Brews on Saturday August 17 at Surrey City Hall Plaza.

Battle of Success event was organized to ensure that every child get the chance to participate in sports.

700+ attendees graced the event including amazing breweries and vendors such as Backcountry Brewing, Barnside Brewing Co., , DriftWood Brewing, , , Granville Island Brewing, , , Locality Brewing, , Moody Ales & Co, Parallel 49, Red Truck Beer, Russell Brewing Company, , , , , and .

Some food vendors also attended the event- The Mad Greek, A Taste of Heaven , , and .

A massive shoutout to all the amazing breweries and vendors who joined forces with our dedicated volunteers from the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society and 93.7 JR Country to raise substantial funds for youth initiatives in Surrey, including Athletics 4 Kids.

PICS Society proudly announces the successful opening of its new office in Prince George, BC, located at Unit 203 – 715 Victoria Street. This significant expansion reflects PICS Society’s unwavering commitment to supporting skilled immigrants, seniors, international students, and other community members throughout Northern BC.

The grand opening event was attended by over 150 people, including a diverse group of local dignitaries and community leaders including the Mayor of Prince George Simon Yu, Member of Parliament Todd Doherty, and representatives from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), Work BC Centre – Prince George, Prince George Chamber of Commerce, local Sikh temple leaders, and numerous local business professionals. Meet Aman Singh- MLA for Richmond Queensborough

Aman was elected MLA for Richmond-Queensborough in 2020. He is the first turban-wearing Sikh to be elected Member of the
Legislative Assembly in BC. As a prominent civil and human rights lawyer, Aman has appeared at the BC Provincial and Supreme Courts and the BC Court of Appeal.

Aman is a recovered alcoholic who has been sober for over a decade and plays an active role in the recovery community. He has a deep understanding of the challenges faced by people and families who are dealing with addiction and mental illness.

Meet Honorable Ravi Kahlon- MLA for Delta North

Ravi was elected in 2017 as the BC New Democrat MLA for Delta North. He previously served as the Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation, as well as several Parliamentary Secretary roles.

When he was seven years old, his father introduced him to field hockey. Now, Ravi is in the Delta Sports Hall of Fame! A two-time Olympian, Ravi played field hockey for Team Canada at the 2000 and 2008 Olympics. Ravi is also a proud dad, coach and mentor.

Meet Honorable Dan Coulter- MLA for Chilliwack

Dan Coulter was elected as the MLA for Chilliwack in 2020. He initially served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Accessibility. As chair ofthe Chilliwack Board of Education from 2013-20, he was a strong advocate for improvements to the public education system.

Dan believes that people must have the right to safe working conditions. He is passionate about the rehabilitation of youth in the criminal justice system and was a director for the Chilliwack Restorative Justice Society.

Meet , MLA for Surrey-Whalley

First elected as the MLA for Surrey-Whalley in 2005, voters have re-elected him four consecutive times since then, in 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2020 general elections.

He ran a successful law practice in Vancouver and Surrey for 23 years until his election to the B.C. Legislature.

While running his practice, he served as city councillor in Surrey, chair of Vancity Credit Union, Canada's largest credit union, and President of the BC NDP. Ralston and his partner raised their three children in Surrey.

MLA Bruce Ralston was born in Victoria, raised in Vancouver and spent his childhood summers in his mother's hometown of Smithers. He completed his undergraduate studies in history at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and earned a master of arts at the University of Cambridge in England, before returning to UBC to earn a law degree.

It is an honor for Entertainment Magazine covering a key dignitary on the cover page that too on the auspicious occasion of BC Day.

His initiatives include implementing robust workplace safety programs, raising the minimum wage to the highest in Canada, and introducing five permanent paid sick days for all workers, including additional days for those affected by domestic and sexual violence.
