“Five weeks ago I walked into Surrey City Hall and submitted my nomination package to run for Surrey city council. I did this because the people of Surrey wanted a change and a new voice at city council. I wanted to be that voice. Yesterday, the people of Surrey made their voices heard. Although I was not elected, I feel that I have won. I spent these last four weeks talking to the people of Surrey and listening to the concerns of its residents. I met some amazing people who want a better future for Surrey.
I am humbled by the numerous messages that I have received for the team’s great efforts. We made great strides in just a few short weeks.
Even though I am not sitting in a seat City hall, I will continue to strive to make Surrey a better place for its residents.
I have made a commitment to the residents to be their voice, their voice for change and will continue to do what I am able within my capacity to ensure the new Council will follow through with their promises. Thank you Surrey for the opportunity and thank you to my amazing team.”

Our Youth are our future! We need them involved in activities after school and learning in classrooms. We need accessible and affordable Youth Programs. The people of Surrey get to decide what they want...Skytrain or LRT. The funding will NOT go back. Picking the skytrain does not mean you will lose the funding. Do not be mislead about the truth and the power of your vote. I support the Skytrain System which will be accessible throughout Surrey. Recently I had the opportunity to meet Shakila Zareen at an event hosted at Surrey CityCenter Library. Shakila was forced to marry by her brother-in-law when she was 17 years old in Afghanistan and was r***d & beaten by her husband frequently who was 14 years older than her. She was shot in her face by her husband when she decided to go to the police who were of no help and instead laughed her off. She survived the gun violence incident and moved here to Canada as a Refugee with her mother in January.

Today, Shakila stands as a pillar of hope and strength to inspire all women. She is going to school and learns English in her free time. She inspires me to keep going and continuing to voice our concerns for issues such as Public Safety and more Youth Programs. Let's make a CHANGE together.

I am extremely honored to announce that I had the opportunity to be featured on the cover of South Asian Woman Magazine for their latest issue coming out today. The south Asian Women's Magazine has given me a platform to raise the important issues of Surrey. I will continue to be a role model and hopefully inspire more young women. As proof of it, my core team is all empowered women: Rimpy Sadhra, Deep Gill Mann, Sajiography and Karishma Naik. I would also like to thank Vijay Kapoor for making this possible and the continuous support. We are ready to make your voices heard at the City Council. So to all women out there, let's dream big! THANK YOU! - I am beyond words thankful to so many people that made this event so successful. It was such an honour to receive so much love & support from all the amazing speakers, the guests, the volunteers & every one else in between. You all made your voices heard today and I will make sure to represent your voices and your concerns to council, once I am elected as your City Councillor.

Affordable Youth Programs for All Surrey Families

I am a mother of two teenagers and have been lucky enough to be able to put my children into extracurricular activities at a young age. I envision a Surrey where all parents are able to give that gift to their children.
