Follow these instructions to change your Shawdirect to Manually lock on 107 as this is now the only satellite for Shawdirect.
If your system has not been working for a few years it may need a software upgrade. You need the current version of the IDU to be 1.12.86

Well as most of you know F2 has now been turned off for Shaw direct. So anyone now with a Winegard system will find your system will not lock in as it is looking for 2 satellites and now only finds one so continues to search. You will have to find your owners manual and go into the programming part and set it to manually search for 107. Once done it will lock in again :)

Been delayed a bit apparently.

The transition to HEVC modulation and the shift to Anik G1 has been delayed by our signal supplier. Instead of Feb 5th to 15th and will now happen Feb 15th to Feb 27th.

WoW, Bad news for Shawdirect, just heard and verified the New satellite they were moving all the channels to has Failed. Will post more information as I find out more.

Looks like they flicked the switch on the 600's today. Not a single channel working, they all say you need new equipment. So it will be the 800 series from now on.

If you haven't already replaced your 600 receivers best do it asap as the switch to HEVC will begin in Nov (if not sooner) and the 800's are the only ones able to view the new frequency.

In November 2023, we will begin the next step in the transition to HEVC and AAC (see tables below for
details). This timeline may change pursuant to any advice from Telesat, given recent technical
anomalies (publicly disclosed by Telesat), and, if so, may require a more expeditious transition. Below
are the technical details of signals relocating and transitioning to HEVC/AAC and those relocating and
remaining in MPEG-4.
Technical Information: Light Switch for existing G1 Services – November 15, 2023, through to the 30th to HEVC/AAC

Well there was no warning this time, but Shawdirect moved a whole lot of channels over to G1 last night. So that means less channels for snowbirds and people who have procrastinated about calling Shaw to get their old equipment swapped out. Had over half a dozen calls today looking for new receivers. So to recap, you need to call the new 1-855-874-6947 and they will mail them out for you. They will not sell them anymore now that Rogers has taken over. They will only rent them.
In 2021 they took away our ability to do installs and service work from BC installers and gave it to 2 Alberta companies who did offer to employ us for less compensation and double the mileage to 200km without any compensation for that. Most of us declined. This year we have now lost the ability to sell equipment, so after over 21 years with them going forward we will NO longer be a Shawdirect Authorized Dealer. We will carry on with Winegard systems for motor homes and selected service work.

If your power light is white, your good. If Green Bad, has to be replaced.
What happens if I don’t upgrade my satellite equipment?

If you do not have upgraded (HEVC-compatible) equipment, you will lose access to more and more channels within your Shaw Direct lineup as we upgrade our network.

If you’ve lost access to a channel due to non-compatible satellite equipment, you may see a blank screen when you try to tune to an upgraded channel, or one of the following messages:

A message informing you to upgrade your satellite equipment
“Receiver has lost satellite signal”
“You are not currently subscribed to this channel”

Further to our communications over the past year, Telesat’s ANIK F2 satellite is experiencing technical
anomalies. ANIK F2 inclination is increasing faster than originally projected by Telesat, with the result that some
service outages as a result of ANIK F2’s technical
problems.
In view of the unexpected increases in ANIK F2’s inclination, we are currently reviewing the plan to have
all services migrated to ANIK G1 in order to mitigate impacts of the satellite’s technical problems to the
extent possible. This revised migration plan is being finalized and will be distributed as soon as
possible
