I built out my kit to crush these fields specifically... check out this
scenario:

Alpine climbers head up a large traverse over a mountain, they are moving fast and it is nearly impossible to keep up. I have 4 wireless lavs put on them at base camp (Zaxcom TRX). They are set up to reduce wind noise, rustling and to stay in place through rough movement. Each climbers lavalier microphone is recording directly to their packs for 12 hours straight, with the ability to handle whispers or screams through Zaxcom specific software and hardware. 5 camera people have been helicoptered or have climbed into a fixed place along the ridge at various locations. As the climbers come into wireless range of each camera person they use their iphone sized device to monitor their lavs (Zaxcom URX100), making sure they are in good working order without the need to touch the climbers. The devices can check as many wireless feeds as needed without a limit. At the same time, timecode is being sent via the URX's to each camera keeping everyone in sync.

I love this system. Especially on my Zaxcom Nova mixer which has 8 internal receivers and 16 channels but the size of a 6 channel SD 833... where I can check batteries of my lavs wirelessly, change all their frequencies wirelessly with one push of a button, has a multiplexer that removes unwanted RF like walk talkies and cell phones and a RF scanner so I can see what is out there that may screw with my lavs. All in an insane small package perfect for run and gun operations.

Cara Khan's film is finally coming to the public. FACING THE FALLS is a story of fear, adrenaline, ambition, determination, hubris, courage, and perseverance against the odds.

The film tells the story of international disability rights advocate, Cara Elizabeth Yar Khan. Deep in the throes of an aggressive, fatal muscle-wasting disease and no longer able to walk unassisted, Cara ventures out on a daring, 12-day expedition through the Grand Canyon.

Cara’s journey to live an extraordinary life and shatter stigma against people living with disabilities unexpectedly becomes a deep dive into fear, trust and vulnerability. As the entire expedition team grapples with unanticipated dangers in a truly remote wilderness, they also come face to face with their individual demons, insecurities, and internal conflicts.

4 days until the premier in Indiana, USA and online at The 7th Annual Academy Award Qualifying Indy Shorts International Film Festival.

Film peeps! I have a new Zodiac 4.7M 16ft boat for rent. It has a deep V fiberglass hull and a 40HP motor. It is incredibly stable with 4 people and a lot of gear in big chop and rolling waves. Open cockpit with the tiller drive enabling far more space than a center console. Put a crane on here, fill it with pelican cases whatever your needs. Can also be used as a dive boat, surf missions etc. Her name is Ice Pirate after we went ice climbing at Anvil Island during -15 temps and a 25 knot northern outflow winds only a few days ago.

Fun commercial! Great crew. Tatum Monod and Greg Hill! Local ski bad asses and a trip to the artic. Hard to beat. Also Mikael Bidard gives new meaning to “Follow Focus” on his snowboard. And trying out my new Diety digital slate, very impressed with its quality and functionality. Merry Christmas!

Morgan Freeman's Through The Worm Hole, TV Show. Episode "Can We Hack The Planet." Squamish's Carbon Engineering segment, which I did the sound for, is shown at 27 minutes (Carbon Dioxide). Finally got to see this and it turned out to be a really good episode!

Subterranean.
I am very excited for this film. One of the most difficult physically to shoot of my career. 3x 8-day trips underground, thousands of feet of rappelling and 7 km each way of crawling, thick mud, endless freezing waterfalls and seeps and near zero degree temps with 100 percent humidity. To keep yourself alive was hard enough, then there was the gear that needed to survive to make a film! I got the chance to do audio and B-Cam, even a bit of directing on one trip, along with some very creative - state of the art equipment (no spoilers today sorry).

I'm Just Here For The Riot. Hot Docs!
Excited to share this film, directed and filmed by an all woman camera crew, these ladies are badass and this is an important film. Thanks for inviting me to help with sound.

"The violent mob that erupted on June 15, 2011, after the Vancouver Canucks Game 7 Stanley Cup loss caught the world’s attention—partially because it appeared un-Canadian, mostly because it became known as the “first smartphone riot.” Images of looting, vandalism and fighting spread through social networks as quickly as the fires burning around the arena. In the following days, more than a million photos and a thousand hours of video were sent to the police as evidence, leading to hundreds of charges. Following up with a number of individuals whose brief actions were immortalized online and the repercussions they suffered, both legal and social, highlights the perils of a toxic social-media mob mentality that has only grown and that persists to this day. SEMI TRUCK COFFEE DRIVE THRU! Fountain Tire Commercial. Interesting job as I needed to design, install and supply communication between the menu sign and service window. PA system, two way radios, off grid powered and embedded microphones. Then do location sound on top of that. Truckers were stoked!
